Synopsis:
Welcome to Bokuto Station, where
the prettiest policewoman is actually *gasp* a man, and where the officers
are always more than happy to help. Getting past their initial differences,
Natsumi and Miyuki are now happy partners. From pursuing traffic offenders
to trying to apprehend a car theft ring, the girls get a load of the
different aspects of being a police officer. Picking up where the OAV
series leaves off, more insights are provided with regards to our
two heroines' personal lives as well as their relationships to the people
around them. You'e Under Arrest TV brings you more "serious"
cases to solve, more action, and definitely more humor.
Review:
I must admit, after watching the You're
Under Arrest OAVs, I wasn't the least bit excited about the TV series.
After all, the OAVs were bordering on the brink of dullness. But after
watching the hilarious first episode of You're Under Arrest TV, I was
hooked.
For one thing, a lot of very interesting characters are added to the
roster. To enumerate a few there's Aoi, the gorgeous policewoman / man;
Sena, Ken Nakajima's excitable teenage stepmother; Tokairin, the cute
mountain officer who seems to fancy Natsumi. Characterization is given
more emphasis now, and are not limited to just Natsumi and Miyuki. I
also liked the fact that there is a lot more humor here compared to
the OAVs. Of course, while You're Under Arrest TV has some eps that'll
have you laughing out loud, there are also a few eps that you can afford
to miss (in short, *yawn*).
The art and animation are very good, and almost as spectacular as the
OAVs. The only main difference being the OAVs are drawn in a more detailed
manner. The soundtrack of You're Under Arrest TV is also worth mentioning,
as it features some really good songs. All in all, You're Under Arrest
TV has more of everything -- characters, humor, action, and even romance.
Take out the boring eps and it would have garnered a 4-star rating.
Miscellanies:
You're Under Arrest refers to each
individual episode as "files" (as in police files). The OAVs
feature File nos. 1-4, and the TV series kicks off with File no. 5.
There are 51 files in all.
