Synopsis:
After murdering the righteous ruler Tentei, the evil Taishakuten seizes control of the world. Legend says that a shimmering six-pointed star would rise and restore peace and justice. The six points being six warriors with great powers. These warriors would supposedly band together and end Taishakuten's terrible reign. At the moment, there are only five: Yasha, the enigmatic master swordsman; Ashura, the mystical child; Ryuoh, the young warrior; Karura, the wise and powerful queen; Sohma, the stealthy ninja. Together, they must find the sixth star before Taishakuten overcomes them.

Review:
I read that RG Veda is actually based on the Vedic scriptures known as the Rig Vedas. I am not familiar with the Rig Vedas, thus I will proceed to review RG Veda as I would any other anime.

RG Veda could've been a superb piece of work. The plot is pretty solid, the characters have depth, and the art is exquisite. So what is wrong with this picture? Well, after watching RG Veda in its entirety, I discovered that the story had a dead end. Literally. They found the sixth star at the last part of the second volume, and then voila... the end credits started rolling in. Now what the heck was that about? It didn't help that I found Ashura to be an irritating character.

As I mentioned, the art and animation are fantastic. Clamp's distinctive drawing style definitely shines through. Another positive feature is the interesting sub-plot each character is given. Still, I felt I wasted good money on this title. I mean, what's the point of animating RG Veda if it's just going to be this two volume teaser?
