But that's what makes it fun. You watch a sociopath play out his fantasies, instead of watching a young kid save the world or whatever. Not to mention, Light very closely fits the DSM IV's definition of someone with an antisocial personality disorder (well, the high profile ones). It's rather interesting seeing it that way. Though after L dies (ehh....that's not a spoiler anymore), it does get boring. Though the Live-action movies has a nice retelling.

I think we've come up with the conclusion that it sucks to live anywhere but Japan for an anime fan.

Actually it can suck to be there too since Anime DVDs in Japan are hella expensive . . . :P

I mean ¥5,000-6,000 for a single volume of three or four episodes, that's awful . . .

Isn't that like $60? That REALLY sucks.

Yeah, you can head over to Amazon.jp to check out the prices yourself. You'll notice that the price difference between video games and Anime DVDs aren't much different; wheras here in the states, video games generally cost three times more ($50-60) than a typical DVD ($15-20)

Did Viz lose the distribution rights to Bleach? They discontinued the first boxset a few months after its release, and there are currently no further scheduled singles or boxsets.

I'm pretty sure they still have the rights to both the Bleach anime and manga. They're probably just happy with it being shown on Cartoon Network right now. That would be my guess at least.

Ah, my local HMV seems to be getting some Bleach boxes still. My decision to buy it is still in pending, over heres its a whopping $120. Considering the length of the series (+new ones coming out) that would end up being over $1000 even when excluding fillers. If Viz rereleases it with a smaller price, I might buy it.

Although... since its rare I could sell it for $200+. Thats how much people are selling official boxes at amazon (bootlegs without wallet chain are selling for $50+ - do not buy).

My mind is constantly at war with itself.

IMO, there is no point in buying the Bleach anime if you can get the manga for cheaper.

Okay that's freaky a thread that my last post is still on the current page.

Personally I don't think Bleach is a good enough series to warrent buying the entire thing. It's just too big. The only series in my oppinion that is 100+ episodes is Yu Yu Hakasho and that's only because they're coming out with 20 ep. pack that sell for 30 dollors a piece.

If you want to buy it I'd wait until its run is over. then judging from VIZ's history they'll start selling box sets of 20 -30 eps for les then $40.

Wow for someone that's been MIA for a month could that sound any more condesending?

Well, looks like Viz is re-releasing the first boxset (with no chain of fate) and releasing a second one. Both contain 20 episodes but the first is $50 and second is $70.

Their releasing strategies are weird.
