Hm, not a bad idea, basically. I have bookmarked two or three such blogs, but I find it utterly boring to read them because, well, I'm not that interested in actively searching after all. I don't care, really. If you told me it was a good idea to watch "Moyashimon" I'll probably watch two or three episodes to see what it's like, and if I like it I'll watch the whole thing, but all I'll do before is maybe read a plot summary on ANN or so.

Well I like to keep up and be relatively recent on the anime that's currently airing in Japan because while a lot of it is mediocre or garbage, there's always a few gems out there every season. And since I've been keeping up with a few of the blogs for a couple of years now I have a very good idea of their tastes and in some cases, whenever they get excited about an anime, so do I since I know my tastes are so similar to theirs'.

I would say garbage levels have reached and past 50%, it's a shame T_T. More than ever, reading other's opinions in foruns, blogs and reviews is important or else you will loose time watching such garbage =/ Can you point me to some blogs too? most sites I know have only old (1 year +) reviews

Maybe the garbage level has risen because no one is buying anime. If its not going to rake in any money, then why should they try hard and spend major money producing it?

That does not make any sense ... the contrary does, anime sales are low because nobody buy garbage.

Why would they actually MAKE any anime if they don't expect to sell?

Also, in the 90's sales were low and production budgets were ridiculous and they still managed to do anime, right?

Garbage level is high for a couple of reasons:
1. Too much things being produced, thus a lot more garbage is out
2. A lot more oriented to western markets, which leaves behind the old tradition some of us like
3. A lot more "commercial" oriented titles, which are usually garbage for critic viewers

It just seems you have too much free time so you don't want to be selective on what you watch. Some of us hate wasting our time.

Actually I hardly watch anything. Usually the "new stuff" that I get to see is what our weekly Anime Club show delivers, and I watch so far unknown publications (unknown to me) on the rare occasions when I meet friends who happen to share an interest in Anime, but I'm not wildly downloading stuff in order to find out whether there is something that I might like.

Fact is I ONLY watch stuff that such friends recommend, which amounts to half a dozen series and two or three movies per year. That's it. Making a living costs a lot of my time I and some time soon I want to f***ing graduate.

(I'm in a bad mood tonight, so I beg your pardon for my rather unconstrained language.)

Random Curiosity
memento
Riuva
Wakaranai
11~15% suki
Kurogane's Anime Blog
Anime on my Mind
T.H.A.T. Anime Blog

Out of those, Random Curiosity is probably the most updated one, and Riuva is probably my personal favorite.

Thanks for the link Spaz. I did not know they were airing a second season for gunslinger girl. I'm watching that next. Would watch that right now but I have a quiz tomorrow... :D

Idiots buy garbage. Look at all the people who bought Ragnorak.

Anime sales are low because no one is willing to buy anime. For various reasons.
