cosplay IS FOR LOSERS

Not true...

Ok I take that back, also in light of this:

So far I'd think that you must have strange cons in Brazil, and I admit I have seen videos from very strange cons with very strange people in the US

YES, and plus this:

Such are people whom I wouldn't call "fans"

and the fact that, unfortunatelly, Brazilians are pittiful souls, I conclude your first conclusion is correct (there are some weird shit going on cons at Brazil).

"Kamichuu" does... kind of.

yay you managed to quote ONE title, while more than half of everything US does that. I don't have a problem with the patriotism in Code Geass because that is ONE, or if I watched Kamichuu too, but when you get overwhelmed by patriotism you can't take it any more, it's like "if I see another US flag I am going to throw up" kind of thing, that's why spaz comment on not caring about Code Geass patriotism can hold: sure it's nothing much, it was like the first I ever noticed, I'm not tired of that, I wouldn't even mind more patriotic anime, they even seam not to like their own nation some times LOL

In time, I agree with Mmsven.

Not true. Cosplay is for a stranger kind of people (I'm not strange enough for that kinda hobby) but not necessarily for losers. Some of my (female) friends are into cosplay. They do the costumes themselves from scratch and still they do well in college and are eloquent in conversation.
Is that so unbelievable?

I don't think it's all that unbelievable.

Anime otakus don't have exclusive claim to cosplay, though. I believe Trekies can get into cosplay, and I've heard of a Star Wars cosplay club that took it's name from a unit of clone/Imperial troops connected to Darth Vader.

"In time" is an expression. After my whole post I still wanted to say I agreed with your post so, "In time..." (before I leave) ... I agree with Mmsven:

Is there any good and original cartoons aimed towards the more intelligent though? I'm not looking for brainless shit like MTV's "Celebrity Deathmatch". I actually don't have the channel, but that show aired on one of the channels on cable.

So far, I've only seen a few good cartoons: The Boondocks, Delta State, Undergrads, Bromwell High and Sons of Butcher. Most of pixars films are also very good. Toy Story and The Incredibles both kick ass.

Everything else I've seen is either aimed towards kids or sucks. I don't like Simpsons, American Dad, and all that other stuff. Anime pretty much dominates cartoons, but North Americans are all too narrow-minded to be able to appreciate brilliance.

Though I actually like Simpsons for the not-politically correct humor 8D

Oh, I didn't want to contradict you, it was just an example that came to my mind, because I had not expected such topics in a series that relies on cuteness.
