Here is a list of rules that should be followed while on the Animetric forums. Please check back and read this every now and then, for it will be updated as time goes on.

1) Be respectful to other people on the forum. We don’t need flame wars on here, let’s try and discuss rationally without all the yelling, cursing, and personal insults.

2) Try and write to the best of your ability. Complete sentences, correct spelling and grammar, not completely written in caps. If English is your second language, just say so in your signature and you won’t have any repercussions for trying to write in a language you don’t know too well.

3) All discussions on the forum should be conducted in English.

4) I am not going to censor any words from the board, yet anyway. But please realize that some teens and possibly younger might be reading the board, so lets try and not get into swearing competitions here. Just use where necessary.

5) Do not post pictures on the forum that exceed the size of the frame. If they do, just link to them.

6) Animetric does not support downloading/illegally acquiring materials that have already been licensed in the United States. This can be through either torrents, streaming sites, or such file download sites as Rapidshare, etc. Specifically linking to such licensed materials will not be allowed. (This does not mean you can't link to such sites, just not directly to and/or to aid in the search of licensed materials) However, Animetric does recognize the usefulness and possible positive aspects that fansubs and fan-translations can have in promoting certain materials before they are licensed in the US (if people would actually buy the materials they have already seen/read when it's licensed). It also recognizes that some titles have little to no chance of being licensed anywhere outside of Japan, and thus such illegal methods are the only way in which one can acquire such materials. As such, linking to materials that have not been licensed in the US will be allowed, and of course all discussion of such items is fine.

*My personal stance on fansubs is that they are fine for series that have not been licensed in the US, but after that you should support the industry and buy the title when it comes out. You're doing everyone a disservice when you just pirate everything and don't give any sort of support to the creators of the materials you love.

7) Moderators and I (Acmurphy) have the final say, period. We may delete posts, move threads, lock threads, delete threads, ban people, whatever we deem necessary. You may PM us if you have a problem, complaint, or question concerning something we have done, but if we do something drastic it was probably for a very good reason.

8) Posting links to retail websites in the shopping area is fine, but please keep self-promotion of your own website off the forum. Also, we are not a trading website, we do not allow transactions between individual people on the forum, so don’t do it.

9) Please try to keep all “adult” material in the adult threads. If there is a fitting picture in a non-adult area, please spoiler the image and tag it as NSFW or something similar. So those who don't want to see it are not forced to.

10) Do not enter the adult threads if you are not 18 years or older.

11) Do not link to bootleg sites. Exceptions are given if you’re asking whether or not the site is selling bootleg products.

12) Try and keep the discussion to the topic at hand. Don’t stray too far from the original posters question/comment.

13) No trolling, period.

14) If you are going to post, please say more than just a couple of words. This is a discussion board, a discussion is hard to have when all someone says is "I watched x anime series," or "I agree with your comments." Did you like the series? Pros and cons? Why do you agree? Expand on ideas so people have something to work off of when forming a reply.

15) Since we cannot currently limit the size of signature pictures in the actual phpbb script, we are setting a maximum of 600x130. If your signature is larger than this it will be removed. Repeat offenses will result in disciplinary action being taken.

16) Your avatar size should not exceed 120 pixels in height nor 100 pixels in width. If I does, just reduce it down to an acceptable size.

17) No straight listing. Aka do not just list your five favorite anime titles without saying something about each. Include such things as why is it in your top 5, what its about, who your favorite character is, the genres the title covers, etc. It is hard to start a discussion when you just have a handful of titles that you know nothing about to respond to.

18) Explicit material is allowed in the adult sections of the forum. This relates to more adult discussions as well as images/videos posted/linked to. Since the adult area pertains to animation, posting of real people should be kept to a minimum unless it has some reason for being there, such as a comparison to something animated, etc. Any type of animated images may be posted, HOWEVER, more extreme stuff should be [spoil] tagged so people that do not want to see it will not be forced to. This particularly pertains to anything that the average hentai watcher may find objectionable, such as guro, animals/monsters, tentacles, etc. (The exception to this rule is a thread dedicated to such material, which would then not need to use the [spoil] tag since only people that want to see those images should be entering it). Anything actually illegal is not allowed, such as child porn, which will result in the deletion of said material as well as an IP ban.

19) General Double Posting Rules. If you were the last person to post in a thread and you have new information to add, here are the general guidelines. If less than 48 hours have past since your post, you should simply edit it with the new information/details. If over 48 hours have past, the best thing to do is simply add a new post, since that will alert everyone that new material has been added to a thread they may not have otherwise looked in if you just kept editing in more information. These are general time frames, and are not set is stone. I will leave it up to you to decide the best course of action given the posting/viewing frequency of the specific thread.
