Don't worry, I enjoyed those, too, when I was 15yo.

OMG, why's that? E.g. I kinda like Yû-Yû-Hakusho, Cowboy Bebop, Gundam Wing and Gunslinger Girl, and Bakuretsu Tenshi and Streetfighter II V were, well, not bad, they offered some entertainment.
Why do you think your selection was bad in some way (in our context)?
Okay, DBZ and Naruto are not quite what you might call "leet Anime", but what the heck?
Compare other people's posts. You'll find we're not Anime aristocrats. :D

Hell, DBZ set the standard for a lot of animes, it's practically a cornerstone.

I don't know...it just seems that a lot of anime follows a similar plot (Bleach especially).

haha this is totally not what I was expecting, I thought U was gonna get some Hardcore ganging up on becasue I like alot of BFA( Brainless Fighting Anime). Yu-Yu Hakusho will be my favorite anime till my deathbed, I run through the whole series on DVD at least once a week.
And I agree with Cab329, I wouldnt be watching anime if it wasnt for DBZ. I used to watch it on the Spanish speaking channels and then search through the internet for the translated version. I totally identify that its not deep or inspriring, but it opened the door for me, along a few of my friends, and I already have my 3 & 4 year old cousins imitating the Final Flash and Kamehameha attacks 8)

Thats because all shonen are exactly the same. Some just do it better (Bleach > DBZ).

Nothing wrong with liking whatever it is that tickles your fancy. Gunslinger Girls, GunGrave, and CB are very good titles. DBZ is a personal favorite of mine as it was the first anime series I watched and is what got me into anime in the first place. Well it and Armitage III/Vampire Hunter D.

Nope, it didn't change at all really. I think it's because, while I recognize its faults now, the slight loss from that has been replaced by a sort of nostalgia which keeps DBZ enjoyable to me still. While it has been a while since I watched the series, I did power through all the movies about a year ago and had a splendid time of it.

Yeah I still love DBZ as well just because of it's influence on the anime of today (and as Acmurphy said, the nostalgia factor). The Japanese version of course, not the stupid, butchered American version.

I only watched the first DB season, while DBZ lost me completely.
I guess "Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs" ("Seijûshi Bismarck") is my personal counterexample when it comes to "not so perfect series that you like because they make you feel nostalgic."

But let me add that the German voice-over was way different from the rather earnest Japanese and the horrid American version (from which it was originally translated). German voice-acting included scenes in various local dialects, like Berlin and Bavaria, and nonsense additions like "If I perform better you're gonna wash the dishes!" It was fun watching, and I guess it was fun time vor the speakers as well.

Yeah I have to admit, you guys make me feel old. Robotech got me interested in anime, Roinin Warrior got me hooked, Sailormoon, Gundam Wing and Tenchi Muyo got me addicted. By the time I got into DBZ I was already babtized. Still yeah i have to admit when I think of back int thew day DBZ is the first anime that comes to mind. To be honest I'm probably the only one here that hasn't seen the orginal Japanese version. I've only seen the American unedited version.

Still when comparing DBZ with Yu-yu Hakasho, i can't help but wonder how the two even compare. DBZ had much better fights, especially the Cell Saga, Yu-Yu had better characters and story line.
