I just started watching this series and I am only on episode 4 but I remember a couple of members recommending this on the old animetric boards.

The animation is looking nice and the story seems like it is going to continue to grow. I am hoping the pace of the series picks up because it seems somewhat slow in some points.

Anyone else seen this series?

Hmmm, should I say something? Yeah why not. Alright there are a lot of people that think Scrapped Princess is a truly great and legendary anime. I think it's over hyped. And no it really doesn't get any better then the first five or six episodes. No the pacing really never gets any faster. It's a bones work which mean kind of lax pacing, just pay attention there is usually more going on then you think. Still I haven't watched it in a awhile but from what I remember it was just a rather average anime.

It may not be legendary, okay, but it's great. Imho one of the best Anime out there.
It's definitely not the pace that makes it but the characters.
And for me, Orikasa Fumiko, voice of Pacifica.
The names are really hilarious at times... many terms related to the weapons industry...

Mauser (German gun manufacturer),
Steyr (Austrian gun manufacturer),
Winia Chester (most likely "Winchester"),
Galil (Israeli assault gun),
Sokom (US commando handgun),
Barrett (US "elephant gun" manufacturer),
Giat (French weapon manufacturer)...

I would hate to waste my time if the pacing does not improve. I like watching it, but at times I find myself bored to death if the story or action is not going on. It seems like they try to build on the characters(comedy moments or personal ones). Those times are just boring and I can not find myself getting into the series if this continues?

So what do you think? Should I go on?

Oh, it does get better, this is one of the best series I've watched, and I actually enjoyed a lot the pace, well, in the tension starts building after the second half of the series.
This series only lacked a little more action, of the kind they showed in the very first episode, but I thought it was a great series.
It's up to you, I actually was hooked from the very beginning, it just happens that "medieval" themes are really my thing.

You know, I never picked up on that!

Personally I found Scrapped Princess to be a pretty enjoyable series. It's not worthy of Legendary status, perhaps, but it's definitely worthy of a watch. The characters and story are what definitely grab your attention, and I find that it strikes just the right balance between seriousness and humor. The action does pick up in later episodes, if that's what you're into, and I just LOVE the Peacemakers. :D

Definitely keep watching Zero. I had a similar feeling when I first started watching as well. But it definitely gets a lot better as the series progresses.

I agree that Scrapped Princess was definitely very enjoyable, but not great enough to the extent that I have any intention of re-watching it anytime soon.

Then again it is done by BONES, and pretty much everything they do is awesome . . .

Its pretty good and stuff but not anything too special. Enjoyable for what it was and the fight in the glass cavern was amazing, but too bad there wasn't more of that.

Hows the dub/animation/whatever?

I know, you guys say theres little action, but considering one of the series I like is .hack//sign (almost no action), I shouldn't have too much of a problem with that, as long as the story is good and interesting.

I'm with you Dark One, I saw this when it was first released on fansubs back in what, late 2003? I actually didn't end up liking it a whole lot, though I cannot remember the reason why. I was looking at watching it again as I do own it. Maybe I will be more enamored with it when I can listen to it in English.

its got a bit more action then hack//sign i can garantee that

besides that the animation is pretty good, okey I think hack has better art work but scrapped is very nice and very clean strong colors. haven't heard the dub so I won't comment besides the fact that i rarely if ever listen to any sort of dub work on any sort of anime at all, so meh.

in anycase, if i remember correctly its only 24 episodes long, and the ending, when it came, you really felt that it they were pressed for time and money and instead of investing on the sort of big finalle they should have they instead cut it short and gave you the sort of ending where everything is closed off unsatisfactory in one or two lines of text. okey i might exadurate a bit here but you get the point.
