Taking place in a near future Japan which has been ravaged by war, the story follows the 'defeated detective' Shinjuro Yuki and his assistant Inga as they solve various mysteries(in so far, murder cases).

Basically the setting is a Japan in the aftermath of an unknown war. Society is under unrest and a variety of information and censorship laws have been put in place, with the internet being extremely restricted and monitored.

Shinjuro Yuki generally solves cases alongside Rinroku Kaisho, an 'informant' so to speak except Kaisho never appears on the scene himself and monitors everything remotely through cameras. The two are presented as rivals to the public, and while Yuki solves the mystery - a false more acceptable truth is presented to the public instead. Hence Yuki is the defeated detective, his role to be defeated by Kaisho in a sense.

Then comes in a supernatural aspect - Inga. Inga appears as a young boy but can transform into an adult woman with a special power - she can ask a question that you cannot refuse to answer, working once per person. Yuki comes up with what to ask who, and Inga more or less forces the confession out of them. Three episodes in, this is so far how they deliver the climax of the mystery.

You have other supporting characters, Rinroku Kaisho's daughter Rie. Her role in the story so far is a bit unclear. In the first episode, she's at the crime scene and attempts to solve the case herself but fails to. She kinda skips out on episode 2 and reappears in episode 3(which is where the show is so far) to drag Yuki to a new case.

The mysteries are interesting enough so far. Someone said they were predictable but I didn't guess the culprit of the first two episodes, although I easily guessed the third. How good the show is will probably depend on how clever and unpredictable the various cases are.

So far, I think this is one of the more interesting new shows this season.

Sounds interesting as well.
("Inga" btw is a perfectly normal German female name with Scandinavian roots.)
