Probably a bit overdue for a thread(how long ago did I watch this?). Might as well make one.

After the second season and its Endless Eight fiasco, the franchise had more or less left a bad taste in the mouths of most fans. Although it did cover the filming of the movie and other side stuff so it wasn't a complete failure. And I did think Endless Eight was an interesting time loop short story when I read the novel translations, its just that when they tried to be funny and spent 8 episodes on the same looped shit with little variation... although I can laugh at it now.

---

But thats besides the point. The 2nd season was essentially more of a side story/ies. The Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi is essentially the proper sequel with a proper main plot line(totally for Yuki Nagato fans).

Although I did read the novel translation beforehand, it was quite a while before the release of the movie.

Without spoiling the plot though, the movie was quite enjoyable with a pretty strong plot and much cute Nagato. Although it does kinda drag on a bit being a good 2 and a half hours in length, it was good to hear Kyon's monologuing again. Doing it with a movie was a pretty good decision I felt, the story wouldn't been as well told in an episodic nature.

Am I imagining things or has that become a part of many series only after Suzumiya Haruhi made such a great impression? At least I'm noticing such monologue's (or irrtated/aggravated comments) regularly now, and it could just be that I simply never noticed it before.
