I don't get the title of this thread tho. "We're under attack by some perverts"? This is a hentai forum, fyi...

The stuff Amex_Yohko is talking about isn't hentai. It's the kind of naughty spam people get in their e-mail. I've seen this kind of thing in the forum too, and PMed Acmurphy about it at the time. I know he's doing his best to deal with it and I'm thankful for it.

A few days ago, I received a SPAM E-Mail of the strangest kind... it reads like this:

Quote:
talent the shut Boy, you will hunt have brake read to go to the mela ground. Last because for Big month they turning grease Was it fancy wrong to organize the disorganized, operation to raise their sweep voices collectively, when the individual o Three I are into Ford visited
gold more complicated has General farm more yell Did the little prince play volucrine learning harbor here? she asked made Motors fields boring him and several
Chrysler These a times or success arm bow Maybe, but I will condition not be there to type see, he observed, wryly. three There do It companies I not will have got
an opportunity been appeal Just sixty Kilometres.

This is only an excerpt, a fourth of the original text.
So, what is this? There are no porn links in it, no mention of drugs/medicine/stock exchange info or anything, there's no whatsoever asking for money, it's just a senseless text! Has spamming become so low and anarchic they're just aiming at destroying a few seconds of someones time?

Wow. That is strange. No clue what that could be.

I can explain the garbled text, at least. Recently spammers have taken to using programs that chop out portions of text from a variety of sources (novels, scientific journals, blogs etc.) to create a seemingly 'legitimate' e-mail that can bypass spam filters that check an e-mail for commonly used words in typical spam e-mails.

It is kinda odd that your spam contained nothing else, though. Normally such garbled e-mails will contain an image or link to the site that the spammer is trying to promote. In your case, perhaps the spammer forgot to attach the image or link.

But it's not the only one. I have received four e-mails of that kind already, always without any obvious commercial background.

Ya, I receive those spam e-mails with no real purpose, along with all the ones actually trying to get you to purchase something or visit a site. The amount of spam is really getting out of hand these days. My personal e-mail account gets about 5-10 spam e-mails a day, and the Animetric e-mail gets around 30 a day. Thankfully the Animetric spam filter gets nearly all of them, but they are still stored on the server.

But anywho, I don't even know why people send spam that has absolutely no possible value for the sender, just a bunch of random text. Oh well...

My guess is they want to be anarchic and kill your time.
Some service, huh? Don't need to do it yourself then...

Yeah, it's those damn forum bots that do those things, if the board is maintained, then it's all good, and like i've seen with some dead boards, those things can take over a forum real fast...

sounds like something a marine might say about Zerg infesting an abandoned ship/terran facility.... :P
