I finished watching this series back in January, and i must say i was really starting to like where it was going. Just wondered if anyone else out there has seen it, and further more if they have heard about there being a second season on the drawing board.

I haven't seen it yet, but I have heard good things about it. Looks like one I will have to check out, though sadly I heard the English dub is not very good :(

I think I just saw the first episode of Zipang.
Aegis missile cruiser thrown back in time to early December 1941?
I'm so not watching this timeslip stuff... I can already hear the philosophical and ethical discussions about whether to serve the empire (although it was ideologically a very different one) or whether to stand up against warmongering madness, and the conflicts arising from the implications of consciousness... that's not very original, already had it a few times - Sengoku Jieitai and Philadelphia Project, both already having spun sequels, only that the guy responsible for Zipang seems to be a total Navy fanboy.

*throws DVD out of the window*

The manga series is quite long (still going?) and the author also did a submarine story (released as Silent Service in the states). Despite the popularity of his manga in Japan, I highly doubt a sequel would be in the works. When Geneon was getting ready to release the DVD in the US, it had already done fairly poorly in Japan so our production budget was slashed. The producer had to choose between a subtitled-only release or seeing what we could get out of a studio in Singapore. He tried the best he could, but it was quite challenging- the voice actors would run off for better paying jobs in the middle of the series!

Needless to say, it bombed here too. If I remember correctly, the best selling volume may have hit 200 units sold...
Explains why Geneon is still around!

Ah, I think I made a mistake.
The missile cruiser is not brought back to December 1941 but June 1942, just before the battle of Midway. Passing the Yamato just before Pearl Harbor would be hard, because she was only commissioned on December 16th, 1941.
