Well, we have the anime of the month thread up and running, and it at least seems to be getting everyone watching something with many different opinions on the series (which is good, that's what it's all about). Thus, as I promised, here is the discussion for titles to be considered for the next month. This can be any series currently being released, preferably one from this season so less people have seen it and also so we can catch up quick if we are so inclined.

Currently we are looking for a new series to cover during May 2009.

I think my main pick that I haven't already started a thread for is:

Eden of the East (Higashi no Eden); a charming tale of a girl who's visiting America during her college graduation trip and stumbles into a naked guy who has no idea who he is and a very mysterious connection with a cell phone, a woman on the other end willing to do anything for him, and 8 billion yen in spare cash. They sort of stumble and fumble around as they make their way back to Japan, which, after getting hit by ten mysterious missiles that killed no one, has been hit again and this time there are casualties. They're on a mission to figure out just who "Akira Takizawa" really is and, I assume, it's going to relate to what's going on in the broader scheme of things considering the clandestine group that seems to work for him.

I'm two episodes in now (only two out thus far) and, while being on the slower side, has sort of a fun uniqueness to it, and a sweet relationship building between the two main parties. Definitely one I'll be continuing to watch, we'll just have to see what other choice you guys have got!

My would have to be Queen's Blade-Rurō no Senshi-!!!!

And here's the plot details from ANN cuz I'm too damn lazy to write it out.

ANN wrote:
Plot Summary: In 4 years time the competition that will decide who the next Queen shall be will start. The strongest warrior will continue to rule the country according to tradition and expand it. The contestants need only be older than 12 years. They need not be human, intelligent or even of that country. The rules for the tournament are simple: murder is allowed. Any weapon can be chosen. The winner is decided when one of the participants flees or can't move anymore. Such event is broadcasted trough a crystal sphere by the court's magic teacher to all population to see and enjoy.

I've seen the first three episodes already on EYL and it's pretty damn kinky yet funny at some parts. Fanservice has never looked this good in a while! :P

I should have figured you were watching this series, it's right up your ally! I checked out the first episode, it wasn't as horrible as it was made out to be (I blame all my hentai watching on that one  ), but I can't say that I was really drawn in to continue watching. Seems like, other than being rather fan-servicey, there isn't much going on behind their ample bosoms. Of course I have only seen the first episode. But I do like the enthusiasm!

FMA Brotherhood is one of those series that already has a thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=718 I suppose we could still convert that into the Anime of the Month series, by moving the Brotherhood thread into the Anime of the Month one after Valkyria Chronicles exits at the end of April. Probably a better way to work it otherwise we may not get such titles in there if they get a thread early on. Like Guin Saga, but damn is the subbing going slow on that one, maybe next month I will push for that one.

Well there's a bunny girl that squirts out acidic breast milk, which hasn't been done before in an ecchi series of this caliber I do believe.

Sure, Basquash is an option we can throw into the pot. We're just trying to decide which, so what about Basquash entices you to watch to check it out/watch more?

I'd vote Eden of the East, just for the fact its very different. And these days, different tends to be a good thing.

To add more shows to the list, I could say Sengoku Basara. Basically an anime adaptation of a game, which involves the warring periods of Japan but overdone to ridiculousness with a lot of manly roars. Including a man that can wield 6 katanas simultaneously and another dude that dual wields spears.

Basquash is basically basketball anime with car robots. Not something I'm watching at the moment.....

As for Queen's Blade..... I'm staying away. Its basically fanservice lulz to the extreme. Its like porn, and yet not porn. Might as well go watch some fantasy themed hentai anime instead imo.

Nice to see someone else is following Eden of the East! Episode 3 was quite interesting, though I wish it would have gotten a little father in the plot department.

Well, I suppose we could put this to a vote to decide which title wins for the next month. If anyone else wants a title added, list it here and I'll get the poll started on the 27th.

Poll is up. Here's how it's going to work. Vote for every title that you're willing to watch, not just the one you would like to watch the most. That way we can be sure to get the title which has the most people willing to watch it.

The 4 titles are:
Eden of the East
Queen's Blade
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Basquash

Poll will run until the 1st of May when I will get a page up for the winner.

Ok,

The Pros
Eden of the East-Animation looks good, story is different, and looks pretty interesting.
Queen's Blade-Err...yeah no comments
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood-A followup to what I believe is one of the best anime series ever made.
Basquash-Robots can be very cool.

The Cons
Eden of the East-I like the concept, but not sure if it will stay interesting for more than a few episodes.
Queen's Blade-The entire anime is not something that I would enjoy.
Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood-Might fall short of my high expectations the first season gave me.
Basquash-The 3D animation for the robots does not appeal to me.

I am stuck between FMA:Brotherhood and Eden of the East.

I'm watching both atm so I'm sort of neutral to which is chosen, but I am leaning towards Eden of the East simply because FMA Brotherhood is still just going through the recap stuff from the other series, aka nothing new yet. At least to someone who has seen the first series before anyway. I'm sort of interested in seeing one of the other two as well, simply because I have not been watching them.

Basquash is supposed to look amazing, but I question how interesting robot basketball is going to prove. Queen's blade is sort of the ecchi/fanservice filled medieval tournament series with large breasted women and skimpy clothes. Eden of the East I mostly commented on in my initial post and FMA Brotherhood is solid if a bit weaker thus far than its predecessor (which I agree was a very good series).

I did the exact same thing, researched all the choices by watching the trailers online.

My vote went to Eden of the East because while FMA Brotherhood looks great, some people may not have seen the first season. Also very surprised the votes are tied!

I've extended the poll for another two days because 1) until the fourth I really don't have much time with class for 10 hours each day on the 2nd and 3rd and 2) it ended in a tie before, maybe someone can break that one up now.

If it ends with a tie again I'm going to give it to Eden of the East since FMA Brotherhood will be going on for a while but Eden is only slated for 11 episodes.
