It sounds like they are putting a fair bit of work into the different campaigns though.

Like the Terran Campaign where you play Jim Raynor is some kinda open campaign, where you get to choose which mission you wanna do and you have upgrades that carry forwards. Something like Dawn of War, Dark Crusade onwards. And you get to move Raynor around in his HQ and talk to his mates or something.

As for Zerg, apparently its going to be more RPG-esque. You play Kerrigan, develop her powers and that increases how strong she is and how much Zerg she can control.

For Protoss, apparently its more diplomatic. You gotta play your sides right, appease the Dark or the High templars or whatever complicated factions there are in the Protoss.

At any rate, it looks like they changed the units a fair bit now. Like the Battlecruiser no longer has groundrape Plasma Torpedoes, but has a air rape missile barrage, as well as a different upgrade function - the old Defensive Matrix. The Thor is no longer artillery, but has powerful anti air capabilities making it some general purpose ground assault unit. And now the Ghost has EMP, while the Nomad or whatever it was has some different kinda Defense Matrix which reduces/prevents?(can't remember) ranged damage dealt in an area.
