No, no, no - not at all, it's alright, I like it. Really.
But only when I had submitted the message did I realize that my statement was ambiguous, sorry for that.

Uh, it might be a sorta stupid question, but... where do you people get all the picture elements (the characters) that appear in your sigs? Is there some source that I'm not aware of?

I usually take a screencap from a DVD or a download, and sometimes I also search on google for pictures. Then I crop said picture with either paint or photoshop (believe it or not, sometimes its better with paint, photoshop's magic wand tool doesn't work for complex pictures).

Some people use vector graphics though. I don't know how that works.

Here's the final version of my latest sig-

This one took much less time than my other sigs, which is amazing because I think it looks the best.

That's a good work, it's simple and it still delivers a cool notion.
I was just a little surprised that you chose this "not far from being feminine" hero.

The Samurai X Kenshin is awesome! :x

Besides, I had already cut the screencap but never used it on anything. That significantly reduced how long it took to make.

Yes, I agree, but giving Kenshin a female voice actor (Suzukaze Mayo) was brilliant - and quite daring I'd like to say.

The first part of Kenshin I watched was the Motion Picture, and I had thought he was a girl since his original character design looked very feminine and the voice actor was a woman in the Japanese dub.

That same exact thing happened to me...

In the Spanish (non-Latin American) dub Kenshin had a soft male voice which allowed you to see he's sort of ambiguous in his aesthetic. Regrettably, the talent of the voice actor wasn't that good...

So when I watched the original voice acting and recognized a female seiryû, i got puzzled at first. But now I feel it's the right voice for someone like Kenshin.

A longer version of what I just said. Kind of.
I watched the series with a guy who was into East Asian swordfighting in general, and he liked it very much, except that he was amused by Kenshin's voice: "What kind of cute voicey is that s'posed to be?"
Well, I said, it's a way of expressing that he is a very peaceful person at heart, and that it's just outer factors forcing him to fight. The tension that stems from this paradox creates the suspense that makes the character real interesting. I mean, compare the clown that's helping with the chores with that yellow-eyed guy who confronts the enemy...

There are many ways to crop a picture...the magic wand is the one I use the least...I prefer using the eraser and zoom features...this way I can even erase the space between complex hairs....but I've seen easier ways like this guy once who took a picture and what he separated the colors in such a way he remained with the background erased perfectly...but the problem is that I saw that years ago and don't remember a thing...I wanted to learn to do it that way...

I know spaz enjoys using the magnetic lasso tool...

New sig I made for another board I started to use recently..haha...but since it looks just like an ordinary picture I will now break it down just so you see I did it all :lol2:

I made the canvas size bigger so you would see whats happening underneath...

It's funny how you can make something cool with random pictures..haha..the vulture...a pic of the beach I took once...a cosplayer (I wanted her wall for texture)...and random shapes...

Just lots of layers...overlays and whatnot...

Edit:Here's the orginal picture

So it was not a picture I took and framed it..haha..as you can see there's even a palm tree behind the vulture that isn't there in the original...ha just case...wanted to make sure you saw the details and how good I cropped the birdy :d^_^b:

It's really cool... mostly because I finally get to see how such a multi-layered thing is composed.
