As for individual connections, even a 1 Gbit/s connection is pointless at this point since that exceeds the write speed capacities of most hard drives.

I guess the upgrade to 10 Gbit/s is to be understood as a preparation for future drive speeds.
I should go to the library and test the capabilities somehow... but I doubt I'll be very impressed since only hightech sources can send with such speed I presume.

I never did update my new computer specs after I built it!

Antex 900 Gaming Case (Keeps my comp real cool but the inside design leaves something to be desired.)
Q6600 Quad Core (2.4 Ghz per), Water cooled
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit
Geforce 9600 GT 1 gig of ram
8 gigs of DDR2 6400 Ram
4 500gig Hard Drives
LG Blu-Ray (6x), HD (3x), DVD (16x), CD (52x) Drive/Burner (Only a CD/DVD Burner, not an High Def burner)
600w Power Supply
A a rather old Soundblasters sound card.
And a Logitech 5.1 Speaker setup, though I really only use 2 and the sub. (No place to put the other speakers behind me :()

I think that about rounds out my current comp.

I should really do more gaming...

How exactly does a water cooling system work in a computer?

Well, I can't speak for all of them, but mine has a water cooled heatsink (Or some sort of heat transferring device) on top of my processor, which has a fan on it, and the water runs through a line to what could only be described as a radiator, which has two fans on it, which cools down the heated water and sends it back towards the heatsink on my processor. It's quite elaborate, and was the best one I could get for my comp since I didn't want to run into the same overheating problems I ran into with my last one. It would probably have been a better idea to go for it with a full sized case, as it takes a a fair bit of room in my mid tower (And the radiator takes up a CD drive slot). Though I must say it is a little unnerving having water running through the inside of my computer, but luckily the system has a bunch of different alarms and safety systems on it.

That is my best, not 100% sure how it all works myself answer for you 8)

Does 600 watts seem like too little? I thought that a 600w power supply was quite a bit for a computer. I do have have a lot of stuff, but I haven't had a power problem yet so I guess it is enough for the current system.

That thing has THREE fans? Sounds like a dust trap. :D

Undoubtedly, with how the radiator thing is hidden in one of my drive bays it's probably going to be the filthiest thing you have ever scene in no time :vomit:

Did a little update recently so here are my current specs:

Chassis: Thermaltake Armor Black Full Tower
Power Supply: Corsair HX620 620W Modular
Motherboard: Asus P5K-E WiFi
CPU: Core 2 Quad 6600 @ 3.2 GHz with Zalman CNPS9700 cooler
Memory: 8GB Corsair DDR2-6400 @ 4-4-4-12
GPU: eVGA 9800GTX 512MB @ 800/2000/1240
Sound: Creative X-Fi Platinum
Internal Storage: 1x750GB Seagate SATA2, 2x500GB Seagate SATA2
External Storage: 2x320GB Seagate eSATA, 2x250GB USB2
Optical Drives: LG Super Multi 6x Blu-Ray Burner/3x HDDVD combo drive, Samsung SH-S223F 22x DVD Burner, Samsung SH-203N 20x DVD Burner (Lightscribe)
Speakers: Logitech Z-5500 505W 5.1 with Yamaha RX-V663 7.1 AV Receiver
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate x64, Windows XP virtual OS running via Vmware

It's funny how little loud speaker tech has changed in the past few years as the Z-5500 is still one of the best set of loud speakers available for the PC. I love the Yamaha receiver. Got it on sale for $350 and it has HDMI 1.3/DD+/Dolby TrueHD/DTS High-Resolution/DTS Master-HD support and upscaling to 1080p/60. Just a year ago a receiver with these type of features would have probably gone for over $1000.

Damn. You guys are totally kicking my ass. Then again, my computer isn't my top priority right now. I don't think I'm going to upgrade for a long time.

Only if you feel that way. I want my computer to run Combat Mission and Axis & Allies - but it seems like this is an eternal "either - or" question for me. *grmpf*

Spaz... why do I feel like I have just been one-upped!

What is your top priority atm Mmsven? If you don't mind me asking that is, just curious.

The only reason to have a decked out comp is if you are going to be using it to play the latest games, otherwise it doesn't serve much purpose to go all out. (Looks at himself...)

I would still be using my geforce 7900GT OC but I had to upgrade to an HDCP compatible card, and one with an HDMI port so I could hook it up to my HD TV and play my Blu-ray movies with my disc drive. Since after buying the drive I unfortunately found out that my 7900 wasn't compatible with it :(

Sharp Aquos 37" 1080p LCD HDTV

I'm going to get it in less than a month, hopefully.

OOOOOO, nice. I have a Sharp Aquos 32" 1080i that I got about a year and a half ago now. I've been fairly happy with it thus far, so I would say going with that make and model is probably a good move.

How much is that going to set you back though?
