Axis & Allies (1998)

Axis & Allies (2004)

WTF!?
I am definitely playing the old version - the board game put onto CD-ROM.
What's with this new version? I hope they did not turn it into a real-time game... OMFG, they did!

This is nuts... I'd rather stick to the original, although AI difficulty does not deserve being called "difficulty".
I mean, as the Soviet player, what do you do? You bind German forces at the eastern front, kick the Krauts out of Scandinavia and wait until either the western Allies have landed enough divisions in Norway (operation Jupiter) so you can attack from the east, or until the Angloamericans have landed in France (operation Overlord), which usually seals the Reich's fate.
Instead you can see them mindlessly gathering troops in Scandinavia until the program tells you "Max History Log capacity exceeded" or something (i.e. forced end of game) because it cannot handle more than 100 divisions in one place...
