I spent much time on that, too. But let me tell you that HoMM IV offers better gameplay.
You don't need no "hero bus" anymore since trooops can move across the map on their own.
I'd like to play the fifth part as well, but it needs more capacity than my old computer has top offer. :oops:

Well, one thing I disliked about HoMM IV is that the focus was TOO much on Heroes. High level heroes with appropriate items could massacre entire armies by themselves. It wasn't about large scale fantasy armies clashing anymore. :(

I also hated it how IV merged several of the town types together. I always (and I mean ALWAYS) play the Necromancer towns, and the fact that it got merged with the Infernal town... Well, that pretty much killed my desire to play the game.

However, I've heard good things about HoMM V from a friend, so I might pick that up and give it a go when I've got some time.
