Where is Warcraft 4 when we need it? I want to find out the story of what happens with Arthus and Ner'zhul.

Arthas/Ner'zhul = Sauron

The story of Warcraft 3 continued in WoW. I don't expect Warcraft 4 until WoW is gone.

When did Blizzard announce that Carriers are gone?

Starcraft fans only have 1 game to play +1 expansion

Warcraft fans have 4 games to play +2 expansions.

And the fact that the only starcraft game we have to play has really old graphics.
I think Warcraft 4 can wait.

I sure hope Blizzard keeps (and beefs up) the Ultralisks. They were my favorite Zerg unit. Even though it was a crap tactic, I always get a laugh out of rushing my enemy's base with 12 Ultralisks. :D

Warcraft 4 will probably wait until Starcraft II has been out for a number of years. If they release them too close together, they risk cannibalizing their own sales with two very similar games, since they would both be real time strategy games.

I look forward to both at any rate

They haven't, not officially at least. Its just a rumor that's going around. And based upon what they've said about the proposed direction of the game, it's quite likely Carriers will be ditched.

As for Warcraft 4, the last thing we need is another Warcraft game at this point. :?

Warcraft 3's been out for a while now and if not for Starcraft 2, I would be looking for another Warcraft RTS to be coming out soon. Even though there are a lot of them, they have been a lot of fun, WoW notwithstanding. At least I think so anyway.

Care to explain why "Carriers will be ditched because of the proposed direction of the game"?

Afaik, they want more units in the field.

Grrrr, I seem to have trouble downloading the Gameplay movie. It keeps saying 'the tracker could not be contacted'. There's no option for a direct download either.

Anybody have any ideas?

Is your firewall blocking it?

Because the theme of Starcraft II is fast and frenetic gameplay and carriers just don't fit into that mold. In the original Starcraft, a player who went carriers had to dig in with heavy defenses and tech up. This isn't really the style of gameplay that Blizzard is going for, at least that's the impression I got from watching the demo and previews. It seems for the Protoss the only unit that would take a long time to build up to would be the mothership, but that's more of a specialty unit, not a general purpose one like carriers.

As for more units, I also got the impression, from the coverage I've read and seen, that Blizzard will be adding new units but also taking away some old units so that the total number probably wouldn't change substantially. Which is why they are analyzing old units and picking and choosing which ones are needed and which ones can be scrapped in favor of the newer units. Which leads me to the feeling that high-tier spellcasters such as Arbitors may be scrapped as well.

I think the more units in the field concept is more about massive armies that many more types of units. So it's greater quantity not necessarily much greater variety.

Maybe. How do I go about checking that?

Disable your firewall and try to download it.
