Let's try a little something new, see how it works out.

The goal:
1) Write the best non-adult review (Anime, Manga, Live Action (Japanese only))
2) Write the best adult review (Hentai, Bishoujo Game)

(You do not have to do both, I am just condensing this into one thread).

Run Time:
I am setting a tentative date of December 31st, at 11:59pm eastern time as the end, to be modified to a slightly later date depending on participation.

Rules:
1) No limit, write as many reviews as you would like, but remember, it's the quality of one, not the quantity of all.
2) Reviews from non-members of the site are accepted, and can be e-mailed to me (webmaster@animetric.com) if you would rather. Members of the forum please start a new thread in the correct location of the forum and end the title with an asterisk if you wish to enter it. If a title already has a thread, just post the review in it and add an asterisk to the title there.
3) You don't need to do it in any particular way or length, serious or humorous. It's all up to you!
4) All titles are open to this contest, adult and non-adult reviews will be separated into two different prize categories. Someone could, technically, win both.

A winner will be chosen after the 31st, barring an extension, or if I am unable to choose a winner a vote will be held on all or part of the reviews posted.

The Prize/s :
Non-Adult Review: (Choice of two) Blue Gender, Rune Soldier Louie, Yu Yu Hakusho Season 1, Tokko Complete Collections

Adult Review: (Choice of two) Ride of the Valkyrie, Ai Yori Aoshi Bishoujo Game, Kashimashi (Girl Meets Girl), Girl's High

I will contact the winner/s after the contest is over to get your address/es.

Good luck everyone!

So I'm assuming we can't enter previously posted reviews... I'll just have to watch something then. Been having the urge to lately anyway.

My GMK review that I have been put on hold for a long time, will come in hand in this contest. I just have to finish up the review since I already have the synopsis, misc facts and pictures with me.

Say, you don't like my reviews anyway, so why should I participate? :|
(This is a rhetorical question - there are one or two pieces on my mind.)

LOL, this would be great motivation for me to actually finish all the reviews that I've started. Because I really need some motivation at this point . . . :P

One question, Acmurphy, are you going to add (at least some of) the reviews to the site?
It's good that I've kept a record of my first impressions on a few series I watched before. I'll build the reviews around those.

Posting them on the forum isn't enough for ya eh?

Maybe, but probably not. I always leave it open, just in case, but I don't really like posting just one review from someone who isn't going to be writing them long term. I'm sort of like Rowena in that respect, when she decided all the reviews for the site would be done by herself. Just to a slightly lessor degree. It's not that I think no one can write better than I

Of course, in my general unwillingness, I am much more willing to contemplate posting reviews for sections/titles that I don't really review or watch/read/play. Such as manga, yaoi, Japanese live action, b-games (as much as I would love to be reviewing them, my general lack of gaming has really hampered that) and such.

So - what's the point? Who cares whether someone doesn't write reviews on a regular basis if that one review s/he wrote is good???

I understand, and I respect that. I just thought that you were going to take advantage of the situation (in a good way of course) and have the reviews added to the site.

Hah, I remember that review, one of my favorites here, because it's short and very concise, and it doesn't give away much information, just the right amount to get you interested. I'm guessing at some point Ro gave her a chance or perhaps she quit before writing any other reviews.

Visitors to the site sort of get to know a reviewer through his, or her, reviews and are able to get to a point of being able to gauge their own tastes with that of the reviewer to get a better idea of how they will like a given title. This is sort of lost when you just have one shot reviews from people whom visitors have no idea about other than info from that one review. This isn't a big concern with new visitors, since they'll have read none, but in the end one would still like the same sort of connection to be built over time and they really can't be done with random reviews written by various people. I don't want Animetric to simply be another review farm for any and everyone who writes a qualified review.

There are certainly other ways to look at it, all of which have their positive points, but that's how I see it primarily.

Well to tell the truth I was actually thinking about posting the two winning reviews on the site, but as you can see I am sort of torn on the matter so I didn't want to put it in as one of the bonuses of winning.

 Ya, there are a few classics like that from before she started to go it alone. One of these days I'll get to redoing a couple of the more lacking ones. I've just been more focused with getting new reviews up, for what, coming up on two years now .
