Location: In the Tardis, off to who knows where in who knows when!
The goal:
Recommend me the best Movie/OVA/OAV/Short Series that you think I will like.

Run Time:
Due to the nature of this contest, the fact that I may have to watch quite a few things, and am running other such contests, I am setting a tentative date of December 31st, at 11:59pm eastern time as the end, but may need to change it some due to time constraints on my part.

Rules:
1) Only one entry per person will be allowed, so pick the best one you've got.
2) The Movie/OVA/OAV should either be a standalone feature or the beginning of a set of titles. I don't want you recommending me, as an example, Samurai X Reflection if I have not seen the series.
3) The max runtime is 325 minutes or 13 episodes, on average.
4) Only titles that I have not seen will be eligible for entry into the contest. Refer to my ANN/Myanimelist links in my signature as a way to make sure I have not seen it, and to gauge what I like.
5) Hentai titles are not eligible for this contest, save it for the Best Hentai Title contests.
6) I will watch anything, except shonen-ai.
7) Must be a title I can actually find somewhere.

After I get through watching them all, I will chose a winner based on which title I liked the most.

The Prize:
Genshiken Complete Collection

I will contact the winner after the contest is over to get your address.

Good luck everyone!

You just took my 200 minute runtime out back and shot it in the face...I'll modify it to 325 (13 episodes)... I hope it's good!

Holy mother of sweet grape juices, what a kick in the balls. Inflicting all the pain at once...

 Ah yes, Doomed Megalopolis, you had mentioned that one before. I've still only seen the first episode and was actually thinking of checking it out shortly, so nice choice!

Genshiken Complete Series... cool indeed.
And here I stand with no good idea right now. I'll have to look.

I'd recommend if he didn't beat me to it. Rumbling Hearts is too long (don't think you've seen it all the way through, but I remember provoking a negative response from you when I first watched that one not too long ago)...and you've seen Steamboy...and I couldn't possibly recommend Mouse (even if you hadn't seen that one too), because it kinda sucked...

What about Ex-Driver: the Movie? Dunno if that counts, because although it's a stand-alone film, there was an OVA before that...

Aw man, you've seen Plastic Little too... (And here I am with it on both VHS and DVD... Think I'll run the VHS to Goodwill next time I can get in there, since I've got some other stuff to donate, anyway...)

AHA! LAIN! I finally found one I have you don't seem to have seen! It's not on your ANN list, anyway. Ro's reviewed Serial Experiments Lain, but you don't seem to have seen that one. Gave it four stars back then. Dunno how long it is for minutes, but it's 13 episodes, which aughta work for the contest. Downside: I dunno how available it is (assuming you might not have it), because it was released in America by Geneon... But if you can still get it that's my pick...

Geez... I've got a couple of ideas and favorites not on your list, but some may be too personal for it to have as much impact on you...

How about:

Sol Bianca (original movie) If that is out of print and unobtainable, Sol Bianca - The Legacy is fun, but not quite as good...

Rumblings Hearts would be fine, but yes I have seen half of it and stopped so... maybe not the best choice :D

I own Lain, so no problem there. Sounds good! (Another one I stopped watching lol) Though I did only give it one episode.

Sol Bianca works for me, I am getting it now. Don't be afraid to recommend personal favorites, I am always open to new titles!

It's partly that and partly the fact that it's 14 episodes and 330 minutes in length; that's why I couldn't recommend it. You'd stopped watching it and I think you've already extended the length of the series once...

Besides, Lain's worth finishing IMO.

2046 is a movie you should watch, if you haven't already.

lol, I was trying to find that on ANN and then I realized, this is probably an actual live action movie! Never actually said you couldn't do live action, so nice work! You threw me off and stuck to the rules!

I was wondering when someone was going to recommend Genshiken. I thought it might be an obvious choice being the prize and all

I hope so. We'll see soon enough!

If you liked Ghost in the Shell or Armitage III (the movie), you should at least try Lain, IMO.
