Finally a direct comparison.
Thanks, G-Core, for reminding me I've wanted to put these two next to each other for a long time.

Manga Video version

Original Japanese version

Both have their pros and cons. On the one hand, the English dub with the KMFDM "Ultra" song definitely helps keep the intensity of the fight on constant alert and even pumps one with the visual adrenaline of wanting to see how it all turns out, with the bonus of the heavy beat. As for the Japanese version, the intensity is still there but it seems to be getting lost in the translation in part due to the music. At one point, i watched it thinking "Is this a ballet? :wtf: " due to the style of the music during the brawl especially in the 3 to 4 minute mark. The one thing it does in a way better than the English dub is make it a more suspenseful and dramatic brawl with the style of music played throughout the fight and even the beginning song in the radio. So which do i like better?

THE VERDICT: I'm gonna have to go with the English version on this one. Call me a Julius Caesar all you want, even say "Et tu, G-Core? " if you're a Japanese hardcore fanatic, but Street Fighter for me always has to be intense or it loses it's appeal, and all in all, using the KMFDM song throughout the sequence really helped keep that intensity that people love so much. :d^_^b:

On a side note, it was nice to see the end of the English vid confirm for me that Ken's red car is a Porsche, not a BMW like i originally assumed.

You remember that? :booyah:
Since the video is longer than needed anyways they could have left a few more seconds in because then we could have seen Ken passing the CAPCOM truck.

The instrumental elements sound like Anime music to begin with, but the vocal element drove me away quickly.

So the verdict is Sonic the Hedgehog music and Street Fighter animation don't mix. :P2: Let's try something with a little less direct video game flavor:

Anime: Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie
Song: Rock On
Artist: Bionic Jive

But I of course know the Deadman song. An AMV classic already.
