Which comic book company do you like better DC or Marvel. To tell ya the truth I like both companies because they each have characters that I like. I like DC because of Superman, Batman, and the Justice League and I like Marvel because of Spider-Man, X-Men and the Hulk. As a kid, I was more into Marvel, but now I'm kinda leaning towards DC a bit, just because I think they're more edgy and their characters are more 3 dimensional, imho. Plus DC totally owns Marvel, animation-wise. Let's compare the two, shall we?

DC Animated Universe
More dramtic plots
Better animation
Better reimaginings of Heroes and Villains
Better voice-cast
Better scripting
They could say words like death, dead, die, and kill
Show people actually get killed and show blood
The villians aren't pussified
Doomsday is badass

Marvel Animeted Universe
Animation isn't that great, but it's good still
Inner monologue was annoying
The vareity of characters is nice
Not as edgy and toned down
Great for all ages
Most of their straight-to-DVD animated movies aren't that great
Venom is badass, but lost his "I'll eat your brain!" angle

I rest my case.

So which company do you prefer? Tell us why.

Overall, I believe DC has more variety (including CMX, Vertigo & Wildstorm) and better stewardship of their brand. The don't usually do crazy reboots every 10 years (Marvel Ultimates, Spiderman Clones, etc.) although they are not totally innocent (new Green Lantern, Death of Superman, etc.). However, if you asked about which characters were better, I'd reply "Marvel." I simply like them better.

I think Dark Horse is an amazing company, but there is a huge gap between Marvel, DC and the rest of the companies in the marketplace (even Viz) in terms of the number of characters, revenue and ancillary products (movies, toys, etc.).

Batman, enough said. :gatsu:

I am not that big of fan of comics but I do prefer DC Comics.

I agree with PunkDaddy on the Dark Horse comments. *thumbs up*

I actually like Dark Horse the most. ;)

It's been ages since I actually read any DC or Marvel comics, but between the two... I'd have to say I like Marvel better. I just like the characters better.

I never really liked Batman. :P I keep hoping that one of the villains will finally get to kill him off.

I'll go for DC. The DC characters seem more interesting to me, with the Marvel guys usually being clean-shaved, spotlessly white, lawful-good heroes, who fight the pitch-black, chaotic-evil enemy.

Of course, things might have changed. When I decided I didn't like Marvel comicbooks I was, like, 11 or 12yo (max), and my overall interest in comics ended two years later in the wake of my Anime revelation, so to speak. So, it's been 17 years since I last compared the two, and afterwards I bought "Knightfall" (that's DC, right?), "A Death in the Family" (surely DC), and "Death of Superman" (also DC, if I'm not mistaken), plus a few one-shots, like an interesting Batman/Spiderman crossover, and some European stuff... that was the end of the line, although I've been planning to purchase "Knightsend" for years...

I definitely like the Batman stories because they have a certain realism. I mean, I remember reading Superman as a kid and I was grossed out by the exaggeratedly epic enemies that he fought, like underworld monsters, mages, aliens, and what have you, truly spaced-out stuff.

... I really gotta buy "Knightsend" anytime soon... :yummy:

My vote went to DC also. Not that I'm seriously buying anything other than Shonen Jump and Oh My Goddess when it comes to comics right now. But between the two I've gotta go DC. Marvel's got Spider-Man, but they killed themselves when they ran Age of Apocalypse.

All DC. "A Death in the Family" is the one where they killed off the second Robin, right? I remember Superman turned up every now and again there, too.

Emerald Twilight is one I wanna get, if I can find it. Of course, they had to kill Jordan off, bring him back to life, and turn him back good again eventually, but I loved the idea that they'd created Kyle Rayner and made him the only Green Lantern.

Right, he appears in a sequence where (I was, like, *ROFLMAO!!!*) the Ayatollah Khomeini has sent the Joker as his ambassador to the UN general assembly where he's supposed to detonate containers of poison gas - but Superman, dressed as a guard, sucks up all the gas, foiling the plot.
That was so damn random... but, yeah, Jason Todd dies, and I liked it a lot. The Joker first gives it to him with a crowbar ("This is gonna hurt you more than it hurts me..." WAM!) and later blasts him to pieces, together with Jason's alleged mother... lovely. :D

In fact, I do remember seeing that on the forums that I always go to.

Here are the pages.

Seems kinda weird that the Joker and Carnage are teaming up.

Well, the Joker doesn't team up with anybody if not in dire need of cooperation - that guy is chaotic evil!
And his way of resolving the situation in this particular issue was so like him... much to the regret of Carnage. This whole virus plan also shows that the Joker really doesn't plan much. He thinks of something he considers fun and then watches how it develops, whereas Carnage prefers thorough planning in order to maximise the effects. How should these two ever fit together?
Actually I'm asking the same question about Batman and Azrael... which also didn't work out as planned.

Well Carnage is also chaotic evil and he's also a psychopath. He can practically do everything himself since he's like stronger than Spider-Man and Venom combined(also easily much stronger than Batman and Joker), his alien symbiote suit can form into weapons, and Carnage isn't that much of a tactician, at least to my knowledge. I was thinking that he would just kill the Joker, since he doesn't give a shit about anything except for killing for pleasure.

DC is more badass than marvel because of shows like JLU, Batman Beyond, & Teen Titans. those are shows that live up to their comic book roots with the awesome fights & storys i mean look at the final
battle between Superman & Darksaid it's a classic case of why DC beats Marvel any day, & even the comics DC kicked the crap out Marvel back in 96 & 03. :) Though i will admit Marvel makes better games. :shifty:
