This has been a MangaCon which has taken place in my island, Tenerife, for the 1st time EVER. Of course, I haven't missed any of the 4 days. And I'm pretty admired about how many people there were. Even if we consider that this event was linked to a Lan Party, it's been a great success. People were really shocked to find that a lot of people shared their passion for animanga. Lots of cosplayed people (not me :P), many events and contests (I won one contest on Soul Calibur 2 ^^) and cheerful folks all around the place.

Lovely.

That's so cool! How many people attended the con? 4 days is pretty ambitious for a first year con, but since I've been at Anime Expo since 1992, I might have a warped perspective... How many people live on your island? Did attendees come from just your island?

I don't know how many people did actually come... I've asked for estimations, and I'll tell you as soon as I know.

There live like 800.000 people in my island, Tenerife: I guess otaku people are not that much around here :P
There were people who came from the neighbor island, Gran Canaria, which has a slightly larger population. Although, boats coming here are neither cheap nor comfy, so I guess they were the minority.

Here comes a report including a lot of pics (don't look for me, I don't appear in any picture :P)

I kinda guessed you wouldn't show off easily.

Anyways, I can't help but believe that western cosplayers look stupid compared to their Japanese counterparts.
Hot girls are rare.
Good thing is I know a good looking specimen living around the corner. :D

I'd probably look real stupid, the way I'm built...but I'd still buy a Kakashi vest if I happen across one...
:shifty:

That depends on the character you're trying to impersonate... Majin Buu? :D

I like Majin Buu, but all the pink involved... I dunno. Just because Bret Hart got away with it when he was wrestling doesn't mean I would...

It looks like a fairly large convention hall (2-3 basketball courts in size?) and a decent turn-out. The coplayers are hauntingly familiar to the ones I see in the states! Cool and creepy at the same time...

We had sort of 30% of the whole convention, like 14.000 square meter only for the MangaCon.
