Ahh, but what if the stuff you have hidden away is so shocking and disgusting that most normal people would instantly revile your company if they knew you had it?

 I think I'd pretend to have less exquisit tastes.
Besides, if your tastes are indeed "exquisit", wouldn't you look for a fitting girlfriend?
E.g. if you like S&M stuff and want to have it in your relationship you won't be satisfied with a girl who likes ponies, flowers, ballet and self-made woolen socks instead of metal, leather, enemas and high heels. 8)

But I realize that, in the case you mentioned, there might be a problem if you're a devoted collector of rape Hentai or general depictions of illegal stuff... "Would you mind if I blackmailed you into having sex with me? Consensus is so boring... oh, and, could you dress like a 10yo... please?"

True, but such girls are hard to find. :? Not to mention it's pretty awkward to ask that sort of thing at a first date.

"Sooo... What's your opinion on handcuffs?"

whoah whoah! those traits are not mutually exclusive. i dated a masochist/exhibitionist who also likes flowers, pikachu, generally all things cute, and she does ballet! one thing you can count on is that women will surprise you... every time.

i also know a girl who will stop you on the street to point out a cute cat, and she enjoys the rape fantasy.

if i were to generalize though, women who are control freaks and an authoritative figure in their job are the ones who do not want any control in the bedroom.

That is true... It seems to me that those who are Dominant/submissive are often the exact opposite in their normal lives. Perhaps it's a form of reversed expression.

The directions some of these threads go off in... Who would have thought a DVD/Anime/Manga Collection thread would turn into a discussion of women and their hidden selves

My collection pieces... I'll give English titles, if given:

Lower shelf, right (from left to right):
Hunt for Red October
King Arthur
Matrix and Animatrix (which has the same cover in Japan)
Once upon a Time... Man (backbone of my history knowledge)
Michael Mittermeier... Zapped! (A German comedian)

Rush Hour
Saving Private Ryan

Starship Troopers
Total Recall
Weird Al's UHF
Peter Blood
We were Soldiers

Lower shelf, left, from left to right:
The German titles (from the first DVD to "Der Supercop") are movies starring Bud Spencer and Terence Hill.
Their movies were a huge success in Germany, thanks to the fun dubs, and I'm a big fan.
I don't know the English titles and I don't feel like doing research now.

After that
Star Wars IV, V and VI
Highlander
(further titles as listed above)

Upper shelf, right, from left to right:
First Strike
Empire of the Sun
The Outlaw Josey Wales

Broomsticks and Bedknobs
The Lion King
The Fox and the Hound
Lady and the Tramp
Anastasia
Watership Down

Upper shelf, center:
Forrest Gump

Police Story 3
Pardon us
A Chump at Oxford
Saps at Sea
Robocop I, II, III
Full Metal Jacket
Leon The Professional
Innerspace
Batman I & II

(rest as listed above)

Upper shelf, left (and never mind the black copies):
Animalympics
Mean and Mercenary
(Manga Video promo video, cost money cuz they labelled it "Anime Music Videos")
Vampire Hunter D (old movie)
Macross Plus The Movie
Ghost in the Shell
Armitage III Polymatrix
Angel of Darkness Vol. 2
Streetfighter II The Animated Movie
(US version)
Streetfighter II The Animated Movie (Japanese version)
Ima soko ni iru boku ("Now and then, here and there")

The left high shelf contains the (yellow cases) BBC series
A Century of Warfare in German translation.
Above that you can see two tapes, i.e. four episodes, of the
Superman cartoon series from the 1940s, and
Final Fantasy - Legend of the Four Crystals (English dub, featuring many of the "Tenchi" cast)
The white BBC tape is about the Battle of the Bulge.
I wonder why I did not remove Ash and Bubbles before taking the picture...

TV rack, center shelf:
80 days around the World (starring Pierce Brosnan)
Alien(s) I, II, III, IV
Avalon
Blade
Blackhawk Down
Blair Witch Project
Blood Diamond

Dune
(the David Lynch movie from 1984)
Excalibur
Firewalker
The Fifth Element
Galaxy Quest
Ghandi

The shelf below contains
Yû Yû Hakusho
The rest consists of CDs by "X Japan" and Hotei Tomoyasu

TV rack, upper right:
One Piece - Nejimaki-jima no Bôken ("Adventures on Nejimaki Island"?)

Tenchi Forever
Daughter of Darkness
Tenchi the Movie
Tenchi Muyô - Ryô Ôki
Photon - The Idiot Adventures

TV rack, upper left:
SailorMoon Movie Box
SailorMoon - SailorStars
Fushigi Yûgi

perhaps, though that would mean that sexually dominant women would be shy and quiet on the outside... i do not have enough experience in this area to give an opinion.

Yes, indeed, because:

Cute girls who like rough sex? No chance you'll turn overweight or bored... I'd like to know someone like that, too!

Like Michelle from American Pie?
An interesting thought, I have to say.
The tough-acting girls turn very cute when involved in, uh, intercourse, but I admit I have encountered the opposite case only in that movie (which is only worth my time because of said Alyson Hannigan).

I was under the impression that this thread was about collections, not sick fantasies and fetishes. So how did it get to this?

Perhaps I should include, "Show your porn collections, too!".
