Good lord, these power metal songs are all the same... steel, glory, honor, blah... in battle there is no law. :gatsu:

Eh, same thing could be said to death metal(which I'm not a huge fan of) or any music genre for that matter. I'm not to particularly picky when it comes to music. As long as it sounds good, I'll listen to it.

That's why I chose this particular piece.

But there is a difference between an easily recognizable style and style that only has few elements that are used over and over again. AC/DC has produced a number of very cool songs (at least formerly, I haven't heard the new thing yet) that never got boring, although you could identify any song made by them after the first few notews.
Furthermore I believe, concerning lyrics for example, that Death Metal has more keywords and deeper topics than Power Metal. I think you can actually create a Power Metal song throwing a D6 with words instead of numbers on it:
Warrior, Steel, Sword, Battle, Honor, Glory.

My opinion:
Power Metal (Warrior, Steel, Sword, Battle, Honor, Glory)>>>>>>> Death Metal (Satanic Verses, Sacrifices, Hellfire, Spilling Blood, Death, Carcasses).

See I can play that game too. :P

If Satan's hordes come to sacrifice
their steely shields will never yield
for they'll protect with sword and shield
the everlasting honor of hell fire

Blood spills while the warriors attack
and death rejoices with the battle
where the carcasses of moaning gods
try to burn the flame of their glory!!!!

I have two stanzas of Power Death Metal. Wanna sing 'em with distorted guitars and a weary drum?

Pretty much how I am. Things do tend to bleed together, and what I can find that I like the sound of is what I go for most.

Anywho... listening to now...

The History Of Harry Nile Volume 4
War Comes to Harry Nile
Same company that did the performance of The Hound of the Baskervilles I have (which I've also got on my iPod at the moment). Don't think Harry Nile is a character published in books, like Holmes was, he's just the longest running character Jim French has been using that I'm aware of.

And for music, mostly the same stuff I was listening to last time I remember posting here: AC/DC albums Who Made Who and Black Ice, and Metallica's newest album Death Magnetic. Also have 2008/09/14 London, GBR (from livemetallica.com) in my iPod.

I can't remember the term "Hellfire" in Benediction lyrics... and did Napalm Death ever say something about "sacrifices"?
Then, can you name a Power Metal band that has not used ALL of the terms I mentioned?

Mah, it's okay, I'm just teasing you. Personal taste cannot be discussed and I'd be an idiot telling someone what s/he liked was "Bravo Sierra!".
I'm also one of the people who have always listened to anything they liked without giving in to peer pressure to listen to what's "in" at a certain time or something. Hell, I do like some pieces by Power Symphony. A dozen or so.
But still I'd say that the style in general is too repetitious. I've never been bored by Sepultura, or System of a Down for instance.

Right now I'm listening to the whole of the OC Remixes starting with the letter N and beyond.
I'll keep the best 5-10 %, as usual, but it'll take another day or two until I'm through. And then starts the second hearing. And then the third. Any track that's still on my harddrive after that has good chances of staying there for further entertainment.

Inspired by "Gunslinger Girls" I put Beethoven's 9th Symphony into my CD player once again.
Enjoyable as always.

Some "Suzumiya Haruhi" soundtracks... First Goodbye, Sekai wa Yume-miru Yume no naka, the Yûki Version of which is the best imho, and the likes.
Chihara Minori is a good singer, Hirano Aya is at least suitable for loud pieces (she seems to have trouble singing in a low voice, retaining the right note, if that's the correct expression), and Gotô Yûko... well, either she's not such a great singer or she manages to get across that her role, Mikuru, is not such a great singer. I haven't heard her song elswhere yet...

*research*

Aha... this doesn't sound convincing:

and neither does this:

Okay, it is decided... :sigh:

The song that is now currently stuck in my head.

Te Quiero Puta! by Rammstein

Rammstein is the epitome of industrial metal and it's awesomeness. :gatsu:

The song is called, ヘドラをやっつけろ by MEIKO

This song was in my head shortly after I discovered it and I still couldn't get it off. It's so damn catchy. :lol2:

Yes, and I'm sure everyone can read this.

The lyrics are awesome... the juxtaposition (drastic lyrics versus carefree melody) makes it really funny.
