The Depp reference to me seems to imply that Miyavi, like Depp, prefers to not stay confined to just one look or one genre. Miyavi sometimes does the J-Pop thing but also doesn't wanna stay identified within that, and given his obvious talent with the guitar, he changes his look and his music style to however much it sets him apart so it's not that easy to pin him down. That to me is what i feel the Miyavi/Depp comparison could have some degree of truth...

J-Goth at it's finest! Eat your heart out, Tim Burton.

So you're into Visual-kei now; that's quite unexpected. It's a bit too strange for me, although of course there are a few pearls to pick.

I got to admit, Malice Mizer is definitely appealing to my likeability radar as far as the music goes. Very nice melodies established throughout. As far as the look of the band, i would have to say it's amazing how one member can pull off looking like a woman so effectively. I do not kid when i say this, when i first saw some of Malice Mizer's videos, i thought the band had one female member but imagine my surprise when i found out they're all dudes.

Their hit is still a stinger in a great way, though i don't know whether i should complement them calling out freedom for a "political" prisoner...

Mumia Abu Jamal... I saw a documentary about his case years ago, pretty complicated as it seems. I thought the guy was dead already? It's nice that he's not forgotten anyways.
But when you said "political prisoner" I was more thinking about Bradley Manning.

"Awesome", huh?
Well, it's not bad at all. Sounds to me like a blend of Power Metal and early Paradise Lost. Neat.

Brokencyde shows as much of a lack of talent as Soulja Boy.
