Post subject:  Paranormal thread

I think there are isn't any thread discussing paranormal stuff, so I decided to create this one.
I've seen and heard some interesting things in my life, some from friends and family of strange occurrences as well. Do you guys/girls have any to share??
I'll start.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I meant to share this one almost a year back:

It was an August early morning, about 3 am or so. I was in the living room, sitting comfortably in a couch, battling to keep my eyes open, I had a test later on that day; yes I was sitting in the wrong place if I wanted to stay awake... especially taken into account that a power outage 15 minutes earlier was making me use a flashlight.
I probably was more asleep than anything else the moment when a very bright light came from the window behind me, the kind you see in a lightning. The whole room was lit I turned my head towards the window and immediately the bright white light turn into a red light that blinded me for next couple of seconds. I thought at first I had died somehow, that the I had been hit by the lightning. A few more seconds passed, maybe 10 or so, I was now puzzled by the thunder that never followed the lightning as one would expect. And then it came, an incredible thunder, one like I had never heard before. The whole house rumbled as you'd expect from a small earthquake.
I text-ed some of my friends who I expected to be awake studying as well. To my disbelief all of the ones that were awake had heard the thunder as well, what is impressive about it is that some of them lived at least 45 minutes away from my place. They didn't see the lightning whatsoever. There was no storm outside, no rain, I didn't go outside to check, but I'm sure there were even stars that night.
The day after that one, one of small newspapers had an article of a Mega-Thunder that had been heard through all of the central valley area here in CR which includes the capital, and two other provinces (state/county/district/comuni).
I got very interested and made some research, I found a few discussion boards that had commented on it. And to my surprise I also found similar stories told by people from the Canary Islands, Argentina and Italy. Events that even though did not happen in the same day, shared the same profile, a blinding light early in the morning around 2-4am, followed by a deafening thunder that was heard through a very big region by many people. No one ever mentioned seeing a lightning but everyone concurred that it felt like one.
I gave up on finding a scientific explanation for the mega-thunder sometime after that. I just couldn't find anything else on it.

Ah I was about to post ghost stories that had happened to me..haha...so its paranormal as in nature

Talking about lightning...I remember over at Ft. Benning. GA...we were in the barracks because of an electrical storm..ha so we all were apart from anything metal...backs on the walls just writing and chilling I guess..but I didnt notice my back was against an outlet
The moment a strong lightning struck closeby I felt the shock on my back...ha...it actually became dormant for quite a while...couldn't feel anything on that spot :lol2:

Wow, that's pretty scary Fresno. And yes actually I meant paranormal, not nature related. In the end my story wasn't really about lightning, it was something else.
If you have any ghost stories that'd be great!!! :D

Lol... ghost stories! The army's got quite a few of them, and I'm sure Fresno's got a couple more to share

Here's some from my old barracks. Nothing really scary. The damn place was built over old British colonial quarters and was situated on a long road opposite an ancient Chinese cemetery. (Before I moved in, there was a murder case on that road apparently, where motorists found a naked woman on fire trying to hail a cab for help.It made the papers and I wasn't very pleased to be posted there to be honest.)

I was allocated a bunk on the top floor where I got the glorious view of the cemetery every time I looked out the damn window. Anyway, the bunk was a throwback to the 70s. Everything was antique. We had inch-thick styrofoam mattresses and I had to lean my rusty bedpost against the wall to stop it falling over with me on it. Sleeping on the floor was a no-go because... let's just say the stains wouldn't come off no matter how much I scrubbed. It could've been aids and I didn't want to risk it. During one of my first nights sleeping there, I suddenly felt a sharp pain, a kind of contortion in my back muscles. It propped me up on my bed in a half sit-up position. It hurt like crap and I couldn't move or do anything about it. Except scream. My bunkmates got up in time to see me flop back onto my bed. Of course they asked me what was going on, and I described whatever little I could to them. Nobody could do anything and so we all tried to catch some sleep.

The same damn thing happened 3 more times that night.

Needless to say, I reported for duty the next day pretty shagged and confused. There were two dark bruises on my back when I looked in the mirror. I stuck on some medicated plasters and tried not to think so much about it. It never occured again though, after I went to the dumpster and fashioned a makeshift bedpost out of an abandoned wooden table. Maybe the old rusty bedpost was either spooked or bad for my sleeping posture. The Chinese believe in ghosts that sit on sleeping people to suffocate them, but skeptics say that it's just sleep paralysis. What bugged me about this were the bruises.

Anyway, this was pretty tame compared to what we experienced after our officers moved us to a bunk that had been boarded-up for some pretty good reasons that people tend to forget. But everyone got used to it after a while. A ready supply of alcohol helped a lot too. Keep some in your locker and knock back a few good ones for the Z's whenever something spooky happens at night. :D

Aha, so we have a thread for campfire stories now. :P2:
Sorry, I don't have any like that to share. But the flash story seemed interesting. If there's no volcanoe or some other potential high-pressure phenomenon in the vicinity it's indeed strange. On the other hand it seemed to have taken the sound quite a while to travel from the source (where the light was also coming from) to your ears, and what's more impressive is that the wave had enough amplitude left even after all that distance to still shake the house. Even if it was a mostly wooden house it's still impressive. Must have been quite an energy burst.

My sergeant would have kicked my butt sky-high if my floor had been dirty - if I get this right: Sleeping on the floor was impossible because it was so dirty?
And what's that supposed to mean: "It could've been aids". Are you talking about the Acquired Immunity Deficiency Syndrome by means of the HIV?

The house is actually made of concrete! Oh and there are actually a few close volcanoes.

I'll post a couple of real paranormal stories soon, I'm a little busy and too tired to write down a story right now.
