I don't know. "Great" for me, would have to mean 5 stars at least. Yeah, I know...high standards, sort of.

Worth my time...which would be about 3 1/2 stars minimum...54 titles, nearly half of what I've seen.

I've gotten better and better at determining the quality of show, earlier on (e.g.-the first episode or two). 8)

Well, 5 stars at least on a 5 star scale is about as high as you can go! Great to me is something I would enjoy watching again and again, not just those I envision as masterpieces.

I usually try and finish everything I start, which has proven to not be so bad (Per my 87% worth my time to view once).

Okay for me a 'great' anime is probably 3.5 star on a 5 star scale. Meaning any anime that was worth my time to watch and would watch again. Now if your talking about Legendary level anime like Samurai X, Elfin Leid, Neon Genesis Evagellion, mObile Suite Gundam Wing then there are still about a hundred. Since I have nothing better to do and I like making lists I drew up a list of all the legendary level anime I've seen, or at least in my oppinion are.

.Hack/Sign
Abenoboshi Magical Shopping Arcade
Ah! My Goddess TV
Angel Links
Armitage Poly Matrix (OAV)

Tokyo Godfathers
Tri Gun
Visions of Escaflowne The Movie
Wings Of Hemiensesal
Wolf’s Rain
X/1999 the movie
Yuyu Haka Show Ghost Files

I just notice, most are on the darker side of things, eeee. Ummmmm oh well, that's my list of the truly legenary level anime.

There revised I trust no one else has problem with this list, out side of it's length. What can I say I've seen a lot of great series.

Legendary huh? That's a pretty lofty title. I don't think even 5% of the titles I've seen could be considered "legendary." (and most of the anime I have watched generally qualifies as being at least "good.") Maybe 10-20% could be considered "great" but "legendary" seems like an even higher achievement.

Yeah, I don't know about legendary, though. That’s a tough one.:|

I'd say there are really only three shows I've seen that are truely legendary (the best 5-star shows)8) :

1.) Neon Genesis Evangelion
2.) Cowboy Bebop
3.) Ray Xephon

I guess if you twist the definition of legendary you could include titles ranign anywhere from "Big O" (e.g.-plot-wise) to "Dragonball Z" (e.g.-popularity wise).

A few I would consider "legendary"

-Cowboy Bebop (TV)
-Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV)
-Ghost in the Shell (Movie)
-Macross Plus (OVA)
-Ninja Scroll (Movie)
-Princess Mononoke (Movie)
-My Neighbor Totoro (Movie)
-Rurouni Kenshin (TV and Reminiscence OVA)
-Trigun (TV)
-Vision of Escaflowne (TV)
-Kikki's Delivery Service (Movie)

There are also some older anime that I can't remember at the moment which also belong on this list.

Kenshin turned sour after the ShiShiO arc, imo.

Well, it is true that the third story arc of Kenshin was a little lacking, due to it not following the manga since it caught up, but it was still somewhat enjoyable. I don't let the somewhat lacking third arc detract from my overall enjoyment of the series.

HAHAHA! air and honey & clover hit me really hard due to my personal life at the time. so i am recalling how i felt when i watched these anime. perhaps if i were to watch it a second time it would drop down a level, it has been two years...

I'd put Tsukihime in.... 'had potential but crapped up overall' category. The manga is totally awesome though. And well the game has a fan translated patch too so the existence of the anime can hereby be denied by English speaking Type-Moon fans. Although the anime did get me into Type-Moondom.... so I guess I don't deny its existence.
