Standards change with time. Evangelion might have been the best shit ever back in the day but now it just falls. I suppose anyway, I haven't quite watched it. Just the... last half of the last movie. And didn't understand shit from that XD

Well I'll use FFVII as an example. Everybody loves it and stuff and from enough pestering from my fanboy of a friend, I decided to try it out.

Damn it was overrated. It was crap. I've played better games. The game doesn't age well at all, characters felt rather bland to me..... and those have to be the most uncreative gameplay wise characters ever. They are literally the same with the exception of some have ranged attacks rather than melee and overdrives. Their stat growths are the same. Aerith can be turned into a frontline fighter if you buy her the gear and stick her in the front line. The only reason people use her as healer/caster is probably because she looks the role. And with Materia, anyone can be anything really in the casting department. Theres this totally skewed perception of it as the best Japanese RPG ever because to most.... it was their first Japanese RPG. It just left an impression then.

I didn't get past disc 1. I don't intend to.

So sometimes gems of the past simply don't shine at all today. Like how the Ghost in the Shell movie was some... widely acclaimed or something or another shit, but it was the most boring crap I've ever watched.

Don't forget too that a lot of us were much younger when we first played/watched these. Younger people are much easier to impress before we become all cynical and jaded.

I also agree the only people that don't like EVA are people that don't get it. Though the last two eps of the series are just philosophical ranting, the orginal writer said so. :P

Um, actually Eva really isn't that deep if you get down to it. The movies especially are so scattered in thought as to be meaningless philosophically speaking. I was always surprised at the number of people who liked the show because of its "philosophical" meaning. That's not even remotely related to what made Eva a good show, imo.

I think it is coming out soon on the 28th of this month in the UK. Its coming out in theaters in the US on the 25th in New York. I haven't been able to find a DVD release date in the US. I hope I am missing something, because I would love a release since I really want to see this movie.

My bad. THEATER release this week. No DVD release date as yet. :(

Spaz master I know what your saying, to a point, the only eps. that make grounding breaking philosphy are the last two of the series. But still you'll have a hard time finding better hard core philosophy in mainstream stuff.

Yeah but the philosophy is all over the place. There isn't much focus.

Really? I hadn't noticed, Honestly i didn't. Probably because that's the way my mind works. I must be wierd. Still I find that you can't really understand one part of philosophy completely without atleast being familiar with many other branches, some of which have seemingly no connection.

"Viz Media to Release First Death Note DVD in November"

I only mention this due to the fact that many people thought they were only going to offer it for download on TotalVid and were rather pissed off about it. Citing stuff like DRM, only works with Windows Media Player, and would be Sub only.

I don't think these online anime releases will really work, especially if they are sub only. I personally like to have the DVD myself, and a Dub is a big buying point for me. A sub only release of episodes is too much like fansub releases and I don't think many people will pay for basically the same thing when the other is free.

I'm undecided on down loading stuff from the web. There is a lot of potential for online downloaded shows of any kind. Mean you can watch the stuff when and where you want, at the same time unless you have a computer with alot of memory and a great internet speed then you're going to spend twice as long waiting for the show to download then it would to watch it. In any case I prefer offically released DVDs, I don't like giving people open access to my computer to download to download stuff. Plus my computers 6 years old and I don't have the money to buy a new one so memory is kind of a problem. Added to that I like Dubs as my reading speed is crap. But that's my take on the whole down load stuff off the the internet idea.

As reported here on ANN Critical Mass Video and Adult Source Media are joining forces to combat piracy pertaining to the hentai market. Read more about it below:

GRIMES, IA, September 7, 2007 – Leading adult anime labels Critical Mass Video and Adult Source Media (ASM) officially announce their joint effort to combat illegal downloads of their licensed properties.

During the past several months, the two companies have been working together to identify and take legal action against Internet sites and individuals who offer unauthorized downloads and video streams of Critical Mass and ASM titles – many of them direct “rips” of the companies' Region 1 DVDs – without compensating either the respective North American licensor(s) or the Japanese creators.

“Adult Source Media has been targeting Web sites and affiliates who have been stealing our content for quite some time now,” said Wendy Crawford, Adult Source Media's president. “We have been working jointly together with Critical Mass Video to facilitate measures to both shut down these sites and pursue criminal and civil charges against those who run them.”

Crawford continued, “As entrepreneurs who both started our companies with self-financing and tremendous sweat equity, Shawne Kleckner and I have to look at things from a broad perspective. This not only hurts our sales. It jeopardizes our ability to license new titles, and in turn, affects the livelihoods of our terrific employees and their families.”

Shawne Kleckner, president of Critical Mass Video, agreed. “To add insult to injury, a number of the sites are selling the creative content they have illegally appropriated. The bottom line: When we're not being paid for our content, the Japanese companies and creative teams aren't being paid. In turn, it affects whether or not new anime even gets made… and the Japanese licensors are increasingly vocal about their concerns in this area.”

“Sadly, these site owners are forcing us to go beyond issuing ‘cease and desist’ orders. They are placing us in a position where our only option is to hire attorneys and pursue legal remedies to this situation,” said Kleckner.

“Anime fans are our biggest allies in this fight,” Kleckner continued. “When you go to a site, and see ‘free’ and fee-based downloads of anime shows, ask questions. The companies who release those same titles on DVD, like us, can tell you right away who is offering legit downloads and who isn't.”

For questions about this effort, or to report sites featuring suspect content, e-mail stoppiracy@adultsourcemedia.com.

No don't fucking you dare you stinkin bastards!!!!

Ahem, this is my general reaction of hearing any one trying to clamp down on any hentai. Am I against general pirating of anime, yes. Am i against general pirating of Hentai, nope not one bit. Why? Anime doesn't charge you 20-30 dollars for a half hour of show. Not to mention that the valuntee translators, or basically the piratees usually do a better job on the stuff then the paid 'professionals' then again I haven't seen that many hentai video's, manga on the other hand hehehehehe. Mean come on, what can they do against Doujins? Oh well I hope they don't get far, instead get redirected to hell where they belong.

To be frank though I don't think even two massive companies will be able to do much against the pirated porn scene on the internet. They can be slipery devils.

Yep this post is goign to get edited.
