Synopsis:
Hiroe Ogawa is a healthy and physically fit girl with one troublesome sexual problem -- no matter what she does, she just can't seem to reach orgasm. Whether it's jacking off with the most state-of-the-art sex toys or doing it with her boyfriend, Hiroe can't climax... making her one very frantic and frustrated female. Fortunately (or unfortunately), Hiroe's sexy neighbor (whom Hiroe refers to as "sis") and excitable landlady (whom Hiroe refers to as "mom") are more than ready and willing to help... soon, everybody's on Hiroe's case. Will she be able to come at last?

Review:
One may as well call F3 "The Masturbation Show", as a huge portion of the screening time is devoted to self-stimulation. Hiroe is normal in every way. She's healthy, anatomically sound, and she even has a boyfriend. Why she can't experience orgasm will forever remain an unsolved mystery as F3 is too busy showcasing masturbation techniques to tackle that. Dildos, vibrators, candles, fingers... F3's got them all.

All that aside though, F3 is pretty amusing. Hiroe gets dragged off to see a weird psychic, a pervy scientist.. she even gets subjected to some hypnosis. The characters are all whacko some way or another -- from the overzealous landlady to the gay spiritualist. Everybody (including Hiroe herself) is prepared to do anything just to make Hiroe come. Of course, there isn't really any serious characterization but I guess this fits F3's overall tone and theme. The last ep also features a bit of comedic horror as Hiroe gets possessed by a horny man's spirit... giving her an additional body part. When the spirit gets seriously pissed off however, everything suddenly grows a penis -- Hiroe's teddy bears, stuffed dolls... even her inflatable doll! It's a silly and somewhat funny spectacle.

The art and animation style are very simple. Nothing eye-popping, but nothing to balk at either. The depiction of sex is quite graphic. Even if the female genital areas are often blacked out, it's still easy to see what they're doing. Most of the sex scenes are girl-to-girl to boot. F3 could've been a better anime had it given more depth to Hiroe and her plight. As it is, there's just way too much masturbation for anyone's good. After all the effort, does Hiroe eventually come though? Well, not exactly...

Miscellanies:
F3 stands for frantic, frustrated, and female. It's a 3-episode OAV in one tape. The Japanese title translates to "The Lament of an Otherwise Healthy Girl".
