Reviewer: Rowena Lim Lei (9.20.2002) Synopsis: Review: Dragon Half opens with a typical family scene, which gives us an idea of Mink's background. Her father was a dragon slayer who unwittingly fell in love with the red dragon he was supposed to kill. Their union conceived Mink, who looks human enough except for her horns, wings, and tail. Mink's adventures begin when the king decides to eliminate Mink's father in order to possess her beautiful mother. Mink is subsequently baited by a fake Dick Saucer concert ticket... and a multitude of events and uh, misadventures follow right after. Dragon Half is so straightforward and spontaneous that getting bored is just not a possibility. Although the conclusion is open-ended, I didn't really feel any sense of dissatisfaction afterwards. The art and animation are okay. While I wasn't really keen on the superdeformed character designs, I found them fitting for the madcap comedy that is Dragon Half. I wasn't particularly drawn to any of the characters aside from Princess Vina, who struck me as the type of spoiled villainous brat who's really not a bad girl at heart (okay! she reminded me of one of my favorite characters... Martina from "Slayers Next"). Seiyuu Kotono Mitsuishi (also Misato in "Neon Genesis Evangelion" and Juri in "Revolutionary Girl Utena") heads the Japanese cast as Mink. Dragon Half is overall a pretty fun way to kill an hour, but not much else... amusing as it is. Miscellanies: Screenshots Shopping - click on title to purchase: - Out of Print
