• Shoko is a bored housewife who usually turns to thick, round vegetables for company. Coming home from a shopping trip one afternoon, Shoko suddenly feels the urge to go to the toilet. But the bathroom in her condo is occupied, and so are all the others in the building!
• Setsuko's a cram school student who always gets the urge to go to the bathroom during exams. But on one such trip to the loo, Setsuko discovers that she wants some stimulation as well...

Review:
If there's one word that best describes Water Closet, it would have to be bold. You can tell just by watching the curious intro sequence (flashing shots of various toilets) that Water Closet is not your usual bishoujo game. I believe this is the first b-game in the English-speaking market that dabbles in the field of scatology. While it's not the sole focus of Water Closet, I must admit that I am squeamish about this particular theme. Let's just say I don't fancy combining sex with toilet activities.

Anyhow, five ladies are plagued by certain physiological problems (except for Julyne), and it was very interesting to see exactly what kind of solutions they would find. The "real" endings are hilarious, but I found a few of the alternative endings outrightly gross. Whenever toilets aren't used properly, a character called Professor Nicholson appears. He is a toilet researcher, and he gives a lot of lectures on the topic. In some scenarios, the professor would do really outrageous things that made me afraid to go to the bathroom.

Visually speaking, Water Closet is incredible. The ladies are gorgeously rendered, and the attention to detail is astounding. You can almost feel the fabric of Ikumi's kimono, or the folds of Setsuko's school uniform. The audio aspect is just as noteworthy. Water Closet features the original Japanese voices, and they fit the characters perfectly. The background music also complements the scenes very well. The game interface is also very attractive and easy to get into.

Water Closet is by no means a difficult game, but unlocking the real endings will pose a bit of a challenge. It's more than just clicking on the right choices, you have to play in a certain way... and I'm not spoiling it here. Since Water Closet is a multi-path, multi-ending game, replay value is quite high. I played through each character 3-5 times before I got everything.

Sex-wise, Water Closet is very graphic and extremely detailed -- down to the urine and the feces, I might add. Frankly, it makes other games look like kids' stuff. Scatology isn't for everyone (me included), but I think it's a good thing that the option is at least available for people to be able to make the choice themselves. Personally, the eroticism to be found in urinating and defecating while having sex escapes me. Dare to try something different?

Game extras include CG, event, and music galleries. There are also liner notes that explain a lot of the inside jokes (like the characters' names) among other things.
