Reviewer: Rowena Lim Lei (10.8.2002) Description: Review: In Viper STG, you control a chibi version of Carrera, who I suppose is a character from one of the many Viper games that hasn't been released in English yet. Your goal is to shoot up as many enemies as you can, avoid getting hit by obstacles, and defeat the boss of the stage you're in. After defeating the boss, you are awarded with an erotic illustration of a beautiful girl (a Viper character I presume) and then you go on the next level. That's about it for gameplay. If you do well, you get to write your name on the high score table. I don't know about you, but I'm not really a fan of shoot 'em up games in general. I wasn't really hyped or excited about getting a high score or shooting everything on the screen, but there was just nothing else to do in Viper STG! Needless to say I was bored after a couple of levels, and I spent the rest of the time exploring what else the disc had to offer. Extras-wise, Viper Limited Edition is packed to the gills. I loved the demo of Viper Paradise, which is like an interactive and complex board game featuring several Viper characters. In fact, the Viper Paradise demo was what I liked best in the whole disc. At first I thought the screensavers were faulty because some weird characters showed up when I clicked on them, but as it turns out they were automatically installed in my PC. They're cute, but that's about all I can say about them. The bonus images are all very pretty, and they'd probably make excellent raw material for desktop wallpapers. If you like collecting / poring through erotic images then this particular collection would probably make your day. Overall, Viper Limited Edition is a rather disappointing installment in the Viper series. The game is as limited as limited gets. Here's hoping that the next Viper releases would be better.
