Reviewer: Rowena Lim Lei (7.1.2006) Description: Review: After a brief introductory sequence, you are caught shoplifting and thrown into jail. You are shocked by the charge: murder. You don't remember killing anyone, and yet the authorities insist on your guilt. Enzai doesn't beat around the bush with the yaoi content. Minutes after your first day as a prisoner begins, you're raped and violated by your fellow male inmates -- and that's just the tip of the iceberg. You eventually settle into life in jail, but you never once give up hope in proving your innocence. You later meet your lawyer, a half-drunken man named Lusca. Evan, one of your friends in prison, tells you that Lusca is a brilliant lawyer who got disillusioned. Evan knows Lusca, and he helps you spark Lusca's interest in taking up your cause seriously. This is where the real story begins. Like any typical bishoujo game, Enzai presents several potential lovers
you can become enamored with as you go through the motions of winning
back your freedom. Among them there's Jose, the resident hotshot; Vallewida,
the pretty but often-spaced out ex-soldier; Evan, the amiable journalist;
and Shion, a bright and cheerful boy who's about your age. You can even
become involved with your lawyer Lusca, or you can simply end up dead. Enzai's plot is excellent. Guys' plight seems so hopeless that I was intrigued at what could possibly done in order for him to be released from prison. It was like watching an engrossing anime series as pieces of the puzzle fell into place, I just got queasy every time Guys or one of the prisoners was sexually assaulted... and that happened quite a lot. I could very well imagine the pain as I watched extremely graphic scenes of their abuse. My only real complaint about the game is how some of the choices don't really make sense. In one path, I chose to open the envelope instead of the box, and then I wound up dead. D-oh?! When it comes to illogical options like these, trial and error is still the way to go. The artwork is superb. There's no skimping on the details in terms of character designs, hentai scenes, or otherwise. I just found it strange that all the prisoners, with the exception of Shion and Evan, always looked dirty and unkempt (especially Guys) even when the game text say that they had just taken a shower. I could not help but cringe at some of the brutal sex scenes. I can no longer count the number of times Guys bleeds from all the times he's violated anally. There's a lot of bondage and S&M to boot, and to be honest I saw a lot of stuff that I did not think were possible. If you're not homophobic and is up for a dating simulation that's heavy in plot, Enzai is one to consider. Miscellanies:
