Synopsis:
Every night Takakage dreams that he is a soldier from an ancient time making love to his beautiful wife. But in reality, Takakage is a regular college student who doesn't even have a steady girlfriend. Takakage's friend Mayumi subjects him to a fortune-telling session and predicts that he's going to fall in love with a new girl that he is going to meet very soon. Shortly after, Takakage encounters a pretty young girl who looks exactly like the girl in his dreams...

Review:
Perusing the title Campus, you'd think that this anime was about some hot young uniformed schoolgirls ready for some action. Although some parts of the story are set in school, Campus is really about a young man named Takakage and his visions of what seems to be his past life.

While Campus' plot had a lot of potential, way too much time is devoted to incidental sex scenes. Takakage comes off as a nice enough guy but somehow he always ends up having casual sex with somebody. These trysts don't really contribute to the story, and it's pretty obvious that they're just there to further the hentai aspect of the series. There are also a lot of the usual hentai coincidences, like how Takakage's childhood friend Mayumi has secret feelings for him, how his cute little sister Meiko isn't related to him by blood, etc.

The art and animation are excellent, especially the beautiful character designs which reminded me of "Shusaku". Sex is depicted graphically enough, and every pumping scene involves the lead guy Takakage. There's also ample coverage of the Takakage-smitten girls' masturbatory activities. The English dubbing is okay, I guess. At least I don't remember cringing at the voices and name pronounciations.

Campus never really gains momentum because the lengthy and meaningless sex scenes make the pace drag. I felt it would have worked better if they had taken away the unnecessary parts, stuck with the basics, and concentrated more on plot and character development. Admittedly though it still can be considered somewhat above average hentai fare.
