Synopsis:
Coach Akira has to make sure that Aota Academy's girls volleyball team is in tiptop shape for the upcoming championship. Fortunately, the new student Nanase is a highly skilled player and decides to join the team. But Nanase needs some tender loving care from the coach before she can reach her full potential... and the other girls aren't just going to sit there and let her have all the action!

Review:
Angels in the Court is a two-episode series about the Aota Academy girls volleyball team and their coach Akira. The girls have to win the championship, and it's Akira's job to make sure they do. The new student Nanase approaches the team and criticizes their overall attitude and playing techniques, pissing off the girls' red-haired leader of sorts (sorry but I can't remember her name). Nanase is challenged to prove her worth to the team, and she does so... but only after making out with Coach Akira. As it turns out, Nanase needs some hot and heavy petting so she can get fired up to play at her best. Later on, the coach "disappears" after rescuing one of his team members from some lecherous gangsters -- pretty much leaving the girls on their own on the day of the championship. Will the girls be able to win? That is the main point that the series builds up to.

I was quite disappointed by how extremely shallow Angels in the Court was. All the girls seemed to be enamored with Akira, and the whole show was just like one big lame excuse to indulge in orgies. Most of the sex scenes are comprised of gang bangs, albeit the details aren't really so lurid. I guess it's a pretty unique way of fostering teamwork and such... um, right. I couldn't even get excited over the volleyball matches (nicely animated as they were) because it seemed as if they were just there to justify the sex.

The art and animation are great. Character designs are clean and attractive. As I've mentioned earlier, sex isn't depicted with much detail although penetration scenes are shown. There's a whole lot of licking and sucking, too much in fact that I got bored with most of the sex scenes. The English dubbing is okay. I can't remember which porn star voiced who but I don't recall feeling irritated at any point.

Despite the flaws I've mentioned, Angels in the Court's playfulness and lightness in tone makes it a pleasant enough watch. I would have probably given it a higher rating had its premises been less stupid.
