New Site Has Gone Live! (As you have probably noticed by now)
The new site is fundamentally the same as the old one, meaning nothing has changed with regards to it being a Japanese multimedia review website nor with the content of the reviews that the old site had. They are all still here, waiting for you to find them, they're just in a slightly prettier package now.
Some of the key points:
We now have site-wide navigation so anyone and everyone can get where they want to be quickly and easily.
The search function has been brought back and we now have an advanced search function so you can search for reviews by type, rating and genre.
All reviews now have a legend on the right side that holds some of the more general information about a title. These include the year made, type of title, alternative names, number of episodes, approximate length, genres, etc. These vary depending on the type of content you are looking at (B-games and Manga have different points than the anime and hentai reviews, etc.
Every page now has a random review generator on the right hand side. In case you're feeling lucky and just want to check out some random reviews from the site. These are displayed randomly by review type and the adult content ones will only be displayed in those areas of the site.
The site now has two different methods for looking through reviews. The simple listing method with all the reviews on one page in an alphabetical list, and the other is the new detailed listing page. This will allow you to go through the reviews on the site and get a taste of just what a title is going to be like before you delve into the review itself. This includes some of the general information for each title along with genres.
From this point on new reviews will have dynamic screenshots. The size of the screenshots shown on the review page is handled by reading what your screen resolution is at and adjusting them accordingly. You must have cookies enabled for the screenshots to display correctly. You can also click on them to see them in full size. I will be going back and updating some of the older reviews with new screenshots like this once I see what it does to my bandwidth :/
A general note about load times. The site as it stands is much larger than the old one. I am on a rather fast connection so I do not know how some of you with slower connection speeds with fare. However, most of the general size of the site is in the top and side images, all of which are handled through CSS. Meaning that after you load them the first time they should be cached on your computer and you will no longer have to download them from my server, they will simply be displayed from your end. As such, after you load the first page the others will go much faster.
I'm also going to take this opportunity to send out a request to all the b-game fans out there, if you would be so kind as to send me some genre suggestions for the various titles reviewed on the site that would be a huge help. Since I have only played two of them I'm in the dark as to what most of them contain.
