Mail Order Maiden 28

Synopsis:
Aiwa is a hormonal young man who just wants to have a girlfriend and get laid. Perpetually daydreaming about his pretty schoolmate Kozue, Aiwa wastes no time in trying to win her affection. But one day, a mysterious package arrives at Aiwa's doorstep. It seems Aiwa is finally getting his mail order from some months ago -- a cute android girl who's supposed to do whatever he asks! Now this will definitely mess up his plans for Kozue, but then having his very own cutie at home sure is convenient... what's a guy to do then?

Review:
Mail Order Maiden 28 is yet another erotic tale from Ujin, one of my favorite manga artists. Technology in the realm of sexual satisfaction has advanced so much that guys can just pick up a catalog and order their ideal girl... as easily as one can call for a pizza. Of course, these aren't real live human girls. These mail order maidens are actually state-of-the-art androids that can eat (a lot!), sleep (and snore!), and have sex (insatiably!). They come complete with fully detailed user manuals, and even clothing of the customer's choice. So lifelike are these maidens that there seems to be no difference from the genuine article.

Sound too good to be true? Well... it is! When a horny Aiwa instructs his mail order maiden Satomi to have sex with him five times a day, Satomi takes him seriously. Like a sex machine, she pushes Aiwa to the limits... coaxing him to do her again and again, despite his obvious exhaustion and lack of enthusiasm for each consecutive session. She's turning out to be more than Aiwa can handle, and Aiwa always finds himself with no other choice but to "perform". The irony of the whole situation is hilarious, which is no less than what I've come to expect from Ujin.

The art and animation are a mixed bag, however. While the characters look rather nice, the way they move leaves a little something to be desired. Motion seems to be translated with a less than average number of frames, making some scenes seem flat and one-dimensional. The depiction of sex is not very detailed, with very little emphasis given to the lower genital areas. In some scenes, the male organ is invisible. In other scenes, various symbolisms (such as a rocket, among others) are used to portray the male organ. The English dubbing is pretty bad. Lip movements and dialogues are not coordinated properly. There were times I felt like the dub actors were just saying lines out loud over what's being shown onscreen, and almost all the Japanese names are mispronounced. That said, I strongly suggest going for the subtitled version on DVD.

Mail Order Maiden 28 is a delightfully humorous title weighed down only by its somewhat mediocre visuals. It's still one of the more fun and enjoyable hentai anime I've watched though.

Miscellanies:
Satomi resembles Sailormoon. Other Ujin works include "Sakura Diaries", "Tales of Seduction", and "Vixens."
