Sayuka seems like your ordinary High School student, but she holds a powerful secret. She has the ability to transform into Escalayer, a battle warrior who fights the forces of evil who would take over the world. But she’s hit a bit of a snag. Her robot helper Madoka is unable to sexually excite her enough to charge her Doki Doki Dynamo, a device which allows her to fight against the forces of Dielast. Now she has to look elsewhere for sexual arousal and who better than her promiscuous classmate and childhood friend Kyohei. Being a playboy and all, he should be able to show her a thing or two to get her excited. That is, of course, if he can stop fooling around with other women long enough to spend any time with her!
Beat Angel Escalayer feels an awful lot like a magical girl series, except that when they aren’t fighting, they’re having sex. Well, even when they are fighting it often turns into sex, but it’s not a hentai title for nothing! Through all three episodes Dielast is trying to figure out a way to stop Sayuka, as their normal goons have failed miserably. They decide their only chance is to gather enough data on her to create a clone known as FM77, which they hope will have the strength to finally defeat her. For this they use a couple of different monstrosities, one being a chicken monster with a dog, rabbit, and duck head… the other an octopus that utilizes its tentacles and some clothing dissolving liquid! That’s when things start to get a bit more interesting; with the required data they are able to complete FM77 and they give her a little something extra. The ability to pleasure her enemies with her rather large member, and that’s what’s about to happen to Sayuka. She’s going to have more than just her hands full! Much to everyone’s delight I’m sure.
The story isn’t terribly interesting or unique, but does suffice to progress the story when people aren’t getting it on. The real hitch here is not in the underlying quality of the story, which is essentially just a linear tale of good vs. evil, but the extent to which it feels drawn out. By the time you reach the third episode you’ll really asking yourself if the story warranted it. And the answer is, not really. The other problem, which makes the extended length seem even longer, is that the sex scenes in the third episode aren’t even that great, further exasperating the situation. It’s interesting that in spite of the seeming inordinate time available there are still a couple of loose ends left after the story wraps up. The technical aspects have the same sort of underlying quality as the story does, and while there are a few places where the animation is notably lacking, overall it is quite good. It even has some actual fight scenes that are competent, a rarity for hentai titles. The character designs are attractive even with Sayuka looking a little funny at times. I actually liked her clone a little better. The Japanese language track is excellent as usual, though the writing is notably lacking, and the English dub should be avoided unless you are looking to torment yourself for 90 minutes.
The sex blows from hot to cold, sometimes arousing and other times unexciting to the point of being boring. The sex scenes between Sayuka and playboy Kyohei are particularly bland, which is sad since they’re supposed to be the main couple. However, one scene with Kyohei and an undercover Dielast agent, entwined with a scene involving Sayuka and FM77 really made episode two. The only notable mention here involves FM77 and her futanari tendency with what must be a two foot penis... and boy do the women seem to enjoy it!
Beat Angel Escalayer is pretty good, but the quality of the release would have been better served if they had condensed it down to two episodes. Having three just makes it seem drawn out and the quality of the sex scenes is not high enough to hold ones attention in spite of other shortcomings.
